This is a continuation from the previous Invicta thread which will be closed shortly due to it's obnoxiously large size and it seems appropriate to start a new thread for this skin's final phase.

You can use this build to begin making color themes, but it's not going to be as simple as most skins. In many cases you will want to change the colors of the bitmap fonts used in the skin and that can only be done using a workaround that is documented in this thread.

Concerning submitted color themes, post a screenshot of what it looks like along with the gammaset code. Not all color themes that are submitted will be included. We also reserve the right to modify submitted themes if we feel they are in need of adjustment. Make sure your theme looks good in all of the modes and windows. Fonts need to be readable, buttons need to remain identifiable, etc. I hope you guys understand, we are just trying make sure all of the themes included in the skin are of a consistent grade and we mean no offense to anyone who's color themes are not included.

Also, be sure to report any bugs or wierdness you find in the skin.

Here's some info about the skin's functionality so far:

• It includes Plague's Poppler Replacement2 in both the standalone playlist and stick drawer playlist. This means you can resize the poppler, right-click to attach it to any side of the window and also lock it's size. Great work and thanks Plague!
• Due to color theme bugs, we could not include the standard Winamp visualizers. Instead Hollow's excellent eVis has been used in some places, which I think looks equally cool and is themeable.
• All modes: You can right-click the two "knob" looking buttons and select thier function. This can also be selected on page 3 of the main mode's config screen. (Try adjusting thier function *while* looking at the setting in the config screen)
• All Modes: You can right-click the "switch" button to directly select which mode you want to go to.
• All modes: You can right-click the song ticker to enable/disable scrolling. Use this to decrease CPU usage.
• Main mode: You can double-click the up/down arrows on the bottom drawer to bypass the middle state.
• Main mode: You can right-click the pulsating lights and toggle between Pulse/Level/Off.
• Stick mode: You can double-click the top-portion of a drawer to close it rather than clicking the end knobs again.
• Stick mode: The playlist drawer is resizable.

found a bug..
I didn't know about the dblclicking on drawers to close them in stick mode, so I tried it out and found a bug..
when you dblclick a drawer to close it, the drawer togglebutton isn't reset..

Ahh good one, I hadn't tested that since I had made the toggle buttons into animated layers which I had to do because they wouldn't correctly update without desktop alpha as toggle buttons. It will be fixed.

Looks amazing guys. Especally the standard frames. My only complaint is (as said before) where are the old color themes?

it's rather amusing putting the old color themes onto the new gammasets.xml file, u get green blodges everywhere

No, it has not been crushed yet, and there are probably some other optimizations that can be made, but I wouldn't expect the filesize to get reduced too dramatically in the end. There's just a lot of elements and visualizer animations are a major reason. We'll do our best though!

A note though, I'm going to be leaving it up to razmansix to make the decisions as to which themes should get included. He's the one responsible for the visual appearance of Invicta and I think he should have the final say.

I found a bug: my computer lol
it takes an average of 70% of my cpu on the stick mode, and I have a piii 1133mhz, 256mo of ram, winxp.
I hope its possible to correct of something... but I will use the normal mode, I have plenty of space, dual screen hehe.
but great job guys, proper raplacement is amazing

While you computer does sound pretty wimpy , if you disable the vis and songticker scrolling you'll see it drops down to a very reasonable CPU usage. Also, not making the playlist drawer huge will keep it down. That's definitely one aspect I want to work on, but I'm not sure there's much else I can do.

I think I'm gonna rename it in the next version to "Poppler2" plain and simple, biggest reason is that from now on, it's not a "Replacement" anymore, since it's been included in the Winamp3 source.. it should also be alot easier to spell for people..

Good suggestion, it's been added to my to-do list.

Also, Plague has requested an "Auto Always On Top" feature for the stick mode which I think is a good idea.

Incredible work but I hope that a better workaround is found then maybe you could include the classic vis, they express the beat a little better than the eVix. Still the main mode is f#*%$!g awesome, thx.

the eVis mode is more like a voiceprint vis, but it's cool..
I hope rpc can come up with some more eVis modes though..

one thing is for sure though, eVis rules so much more than the classic vis with no colortheme support and limiting all other themes...

but the custom vis on the main mode looks, dithered, as well as the minimode vis. And the vis concept on the minimode is good... just odd looking--maybe because it's a bit choppy.

As for the dithering, we have tried reducing the number of colors in an attempt to shrink the size. It's a balance of # of frames, color reduction, file size and dimensions, so it's the best happy medium we've come up with so far. It might change, it might not, we'll see!

Perfect I am using build 498. I would like to see if "Auto on top" will solve the "on top" bug of that particular build.

all involved and RPC especially have done an awesome job making this skin "come to life" The poppler replacement is a perfect addition - but you know that allready Plague

As for the vis on the main and miniplayer - those will change as they were for testing purposes. I'll have a fair chance during the next few days to work more seriously on those anims and the rest that's missing.

ohh..and RPC I just checked the T3 skin you coded...lol....it's mighty fine!

To be honest, I haven't followed this skin much, I think I stopped after the first or second page. Despite all the buzz about the skin, I don't regret that decision at all.
Why? Invicta is beautiful to look at and as elegantly coded, I couldn't handle the anticipation! Superb work, you guys make an excellent team. Hopefully I'll find a spare hour or three to contribute a color theme.

Ah, we're talking about two different things. Spoons suggested that I use a custom vis to get around the vis color theme bug which led to Hollow's eVis. Frisbee suggested a workaround in a different thread for a sysregion problem I was having with togglebuttons.

Which goes to show how many innovative ideas were put into this skin! ;-)

oik bug on my pc, maybe its because im still running 488 or something, but the playlist drawer i titlebar mode si fuxored. nothing appears, its just a blank colour, but when i move my mouse over it parts of it flicker visible and then back to blank... weird. msg me if you want more detail...
