Installation Error
Greetings,
I got this error during installation: code: If I don't play videos, can I do without DirectX? Thanks, Shane. Winamp 5.666 build 3516 (x86) Windows 10 Home 64-bit |

it's mainly for the Milkdrop vis plug-in so won't be an issue for you based on what you've said above for usage (and if you'd installed Winamp before the sale on the same machine then it'll be setup correctly for Milkdrop anyway).

I don't use Winamp for video, so I guess I won't need it.
I've just reinstalled Windows 7 and now I've reinstalled Winamp. I've never gotten this error before. This is the first time installing Winamp 5.666. Previously I had 5.61. Thanks, Shane. Winamp 5.666 build 3516 (x86) Windows 10 Home 64-bit |

it's all related to the sale of Winamp (where some of the pre-defined downloads, etc are not currently working / available) as the installer has been ensuring a valid DirectX version was installed for a good few years from the winamp download servers before the v5.61 you were previously using. either way, you'll know pretty quickly if it's an issue for your setup or not.

Download and install the indicated DirectX version, if you need it. If you don't need it, ignore the message. If you are not sure if you need it, download and install it anyway. It can't hurt anything.

we'll hopefully have the required files back up in the next few days on the correct download location so the issue will go away for those who are doing fresh installs, etc. though in the meanwhile archived versions can be obtained from http://www.getwinamp.net/mirror/download/redist/dx/ (those are the same as what Winamp had been previously using).
[edit @20:00 GMT (~30mins after posting)] files have been re-uploaded to the correct location so that should be one less 'issue' for installation. |

I've heard of him as well as the recent film version (which I gather was poor though the associated Lego sets are pretty good imho). and in this case it was our ops guy who sorted it out
