The new Shoutcast browser includes ALL available streams (currently ~13,000), whereas the old one was limited to 1000 max. The listener count/popularity thing is being done away with. We want the listener to decide what they like and want to hear, instead of ust browsing in sheep mode. We also want to give the smaller/newer stations a chnace to be listed and heard. There's options to sort by Name, Bitrate or Type at the top of each Genre results. [Edit] Ok, Listener Count is now back. woohoo, heh For those who switched back to 5.13 since 5.2 initially went out, see here. [/Edit] @ all: Right-click for Enqueue or Play context menu (left click defaults to Play, ie. wipes your playlist) @Koopertrooper I'm not allowed to post direct links to those installers, heh. @ all: Also, note the new AOL MusicNow icon/offer on screen 5 of the installer options (only appears for users in USA) |

Actually, the build number is 469, which is mostly uninteresting. The only thing I can find out about it is that its a centered hexagonal number

What does "preliminary id3v2.4 support" really mean? Can someone give me the technical details on why it's still just preliminary? When is it going to be finialized?
By the way... THANK YOU for adding ID3V4, aacPlus, new Lame, and more. Best release in years and one I've been waiting for a LONG time. Ethan |

Winamp knows not to destroy a whole lot of tag info now. It knows what format tags should be saved in. It respects the tag specifications. The only thing really missing is a new UI to let people add the new tag fields.
so yeah, preliminary. @ott598487, im glad you prefer being limited to 1000 streams listed only. I'll stick to being able to search from them all knowing that since its server side code i'll probably see many updates to it in the coming weeks. |

I have a problem with the installer (I've tried the full w/emusic, full without, and standard installers). I'm running windows 98.
When I install, it works fine until the very end and it hangs on "Registering..." with the progress bar filled completely until I kill the "Winamp" process that the installer has launched (note: I am not killing the "Winamp Setup" process). It then finishes installing and it goes through the normal steps and launches winamp. Then, it takes about 2 minutes for it to load, and I get a "wave output 2.1 error" that says error code 20 with a bunch of ?????? marks. Please advise, I never had this problem with any of the beta builds. Jack Nagel |

Oddly enough,the same format of wave files(two files),winamp 5.2 final can play one,can't play another.
Attention: This two wave files is come from different MP3 player. This problem is to solve in Winamp 5.2 Beta Build 440, but it still has some problem in Build 449 and Final(469). |

I've loved winamp for years but this is a serious downgrade :edit: in fact it just plain doesnt work I can see the page listing aol music aol video shoutcast shoutcast tv but when I click them nothing happens |

not to argue, but i had my settings set for 1500 streams and it pulled all of them in. it was set at 1500 to filter out the crap at the bottom but pick up any streams that were strange enough to catch my eye. the stream limit of 1000 was set serverside if i recall correctly and i don't recall seeing a reason why it was set at that level.
having said that, i don't like the interface of the new online media at all. i much rather like seeing what the top streams (listenerwise) were and that was the thing that would get me listening to that stream. the quick searching from the available streams suited me better. it may be a nicer build, but i think i'll hang on to what i have until someone makes a plugin to bring that functionality back. ![]() |

Everythings working fine here and the only complaint I have is the size of the text, it's a bit tiny for my old eyes ![]() One of the great new things with 5.2 is that you can add your own links if you don't like what you're getting. In fact I've already added so many extra links that I've started writing an HTML page to gather them all together in one place. It's not very difficult, even I can manage it. I'm getting quite excited with the possibilities to be honest ![]() For anyone who really knows this HTML stuff I'm sure they could do pretty much what they want. \/ \/ It's only limited by your own imagination ![]() UJ |

So far looks great, the Shoutcast browser is different - not necessarily bad - will take some getting used to, but better overall. One feature left out that I think is needed is the Send To> context menu (in the Shoutcast browser). There's half a dozen stations I like to listen to, and it's much easier to simply right-click and send them to bookmarks. Can be done through the playlist, but more of a hassle, as title of bookmark shows up as plain URL...
*Edit* Also, I'm unable to select text in the Shoutcast Radio search field using the mouse; only able to delete with backspace/del key. |

@ baudfather - I miss bookmarking from the ML as well, as you say, using the Playlist is not the same.

Why dont the developers take notice of the bug I'm reporting. aacplus decoding still doesn't work properly for files created in Nero when the files are randomly seeked, whereas the same files decode properly with the AudioCoding.com in_mp4 plugin.

I can't play some of WAVE files not all of it. It works very well in 5.2Beta Build 440(no problem). Why new 5.2 Beta build 449 and final version can't work? I use first computer the OS is Win98SE,it's can't work. (I used second computer the OS is Windows XP Sp2 still can't play those wave files.) Is my computer problem? |

The new shoutcast browser seems to be nice. One thing I noticed: When searching for the channels of the station www.sky.fm I am not able to find any channel besides the classic and the 60's-80's rock channel. In 5.13 the Best of the 80's channel, I'm listening to it right now, was listed as well. I didn't search for the other channels,...
Another thing: I searched for "sky fm" and "sky.fm" and both gave different results. That is very annoying as I would expect that "sky.fm" would be included when I search for "sky fm". An advanced search-dialog would be nice so that finding specific stations becomes easier. As a suggestion the search engine could ignore the dots "." just like, for example www.packetnews.com does. Another thing: the sort by bitrate, name,... header at the top of a genre listing is not allways displayed. This happens when a genre, say "retro" (sorting header ok)is displayed then anotherone, say "dance" (sorting header ok)and then "retro" again (now the sorting header is missing). A post that belongs in the Bug-Report forum? |
