Auto Dj?

Is it possible to create an Auto Dj using Winamp + Code if so how?

the Capabilities of the Dj Would be When a Dj has Stopped Streaming for 30 seconds,

the auto Dj will kick in, and Stream music till the next DJ Connects on air.

i have seen this done on sites and want it done for my own is it possible?

the songs could be stored on a MySql Datebase type thing?
or on the Site it's self

Well funny you thinks is winamp that other sites use. The answer is NO. Shoutcast can only have one source connected at a time, so if a DJ is broadcasting live using winamp or othe tools you could have another DJ or trancoder trying to connect over and over. Within a few seconds of the live stream being disconnected from the stream server the other DJ or transcoder would own the show until they disconnect.

You can use sc_trans (transcoder) to automate playing mp3 file without the need of winamp or a soundcard. The problem is if sc_trans is connected winamp or the DJ cant until sc_trans is killed. Nothing built into shoutcast server software or the DSP plugin to automaticly kill the transcoder.

SAM3 which is a high end DJ system has scripting you can write to allow automation of this, its retails for $199 USD go to their website for more information on SAM3 www.spacialaudio.com

If you wanted to do it using only shoutcast softwre which is free, you do get a mini web site with shoutcast can allows your to kick sources off the server, so if one of those is sc_trans and you kick it and you have sc_trans setup to retry every 30 seconds the DJ has 30 seconds to login with winamp DSP. Not automated, but better than nothing too eh?

Cheers.

2 things i will mention

; BackupFile can specify a mp3 file that will be streamed to listeners over
; and over again when the source stream disconnects. AutoDumpUsers must be
; 0 to use this feature. When the source stream reconnects, the listeners
; are rejoined into the live broadcast.
; Note that the backup file MUST be the same samplerate/channels as the
; live stream in order for this to work properly. Although bitrate CAN
; vary, you can use '%d' to specify the bitrate in the filename
; (i.e. C:\backup%d.mp3 would be C:\backup32.mp3 if you are casting at 32kbps).
; The default is no BackupFile
; BackupFile=C:\intro%d.mp3

and secondly allthough not automatic it will keep you 24/7 is our cds which can connect a source to any shoutcast or icecast server.

How about a real automated DJ - an artificial intelligence that can host your station when no human DJ is available to host it.

The AIVMS artificial intelligence can introduce your songs, and it can also announce news, weather, and even traffic reports if you desire. You can customize the song introductions for your personal tastes, or just allow the AI to obtain its own information for the intro from the internet. AIVMS can accept phone calls into the station, as it is integrated with the Skype VOIP system. You can easily host an online talk show as AIVMS automatically routes multiple calls as a streamed conference.

AIVMS does all of this with the existing sound card in a Windows XP PC platform.

You can download AIVMS from here.

Another alternative for automation that should be mentioned is DRS 2006. I've never used it myself, but I know it is quite popular.

Playout automation - go for SAM or DRS2006 - for true control of a stream. SAM allows you to schedule 'live' shows as well as automated playout. It's a pretty impressive programme for quite honestly a reasonable outlay.

DRS2006 is similar in it's quality and ease of use - although it doesn't seem to have quite as many bells and whistles attached.

DJ Stem -

As already advised - please take the time to visit the websites of the various software packages that people have pointed you to. If you visit those sites and read up on the software packages - I think you will find ALL the answers to the questions you may have.

As already stated - Both SAM and DRS2006 are automated playout software programmes.
