moving video from WINAMP to 2012 Windows Movie Maker

1. Was a music video recorded on WINAMP as I heard the audio and saw the psychadelia?
2. If not, how do I record one?
3. If it did record one, how can I export it to my 2012 Windows Movie Maker?

Thanks!

Yes! Is that possible? I don't even have to record both the song and the psychadlia: just the psychadelia itself would be great!

But the only way I can figure out to do that is to get my movie camera, and aim that at the screen. That's not going to be very symmetrical though.

What u want to do is a "video screen capture"

So what happens is u make the visualization full screen and then toggle the recording which is done by an app outside of Winamp.

Idk if windows has this built in, or if u'll need a 3rd party app to do it, but video and audio should be possible.

Yes, I know how to do a screenshot. But I have never recorded video from the screen.
I have Windows 10 and a HP ENVY laptop computer. I have an external drive also.

But I don't have an app that can do that, and I've never seen one.

All I can tell u is that they exist. It's just like taking screenshots but instead it's video.

Might be built in to the latest ver of windows, or maybe not, but if not there def are 3rd party apps that do it.

I think that one reason they are hard to find is that no one wants their video recorded without payment. Back in the early 1980's, when VCR's just came out, people were encouraged to record programs from their TV's.

But I've never heard any producer encouraging people to copy his video from other peoples' desktops.

Tried first example on "G-Force Standalone", didn't work.

Thanks for your help, but I'm not trying to record a video that is the size of my entire desktop.

I want to record a psychedelic video put out by a wINAMP program that is located on my desktop, but it's just covering 1/4th of my desktop.

That doesn't make any sense... what's the difference? If u make a video of the vis in full screen, or a vid of just the vis in a window, the end result, visually speaking, is the same.

Idk about VLC for this, but my suggestion stands.

hi

I appreciate your help.

How can I copy the visualisations output as a video? People have told me how to copy the entire desktop, but that's not what I want to do. I only want to copy the psychadelic patterns put out by the WINAMP visualisations "box," which only covers about 1/4th of my desktop. Any tips?

If I copy the entire desktop in a video, it's going to show the non-moving programs that are also visible on my desktop.

First, have u ever put a winamp vis in fullscreen? Try it. When u do u will see only the vis is visible.

Ergo, when the vis is fullscreen, u can record the "whole desktop" using my method and get what u want.

Thanks for responding.

Yes, I've tried it, and it looked bad on a full screen. There was not enough detail.

Unless I'm doing something wrong, on a full screen, the WINAMP visualizations I saw were not all that great. I mean, it wasn't like looking in to a kalideoscope.

I would describe it more like looking at t-dyed t-shirt designs. But hey, that's better than what I could create using my own hands.

It's possible that the louder the music and the more pronounced the drum beats, the better the visualizations would look?

Honestly this is quite frustrating.

Record it in fullscreen, then on playback use a 6 x 6 window or whatever u want.

It records everything that's on the desktop, even if I stretch it to cover the screen. Is there a step I'm skipping?

U don't stretch anything. U toggle vis fullscreen on and off. So toggle it on, then toggle recording it. Then when u play it back, (the resulting recorded file) u can do it in as small a window as u wish.

Wait, you want to record video regarding something from winamp?

Dear lord don't use stuff like bandicam or hypercam. What year is this, 2009?

Here's some free open source software that is extensively good for capturing video: https://obsproject.com/

it's mostly used for streaming videogames, but you can use it to just record video of applications on your computer.
