Who's behind the Sonic burning engine?

The Sonic burning engine in Winamp iirc is third party code just like the Autotag was somewhat, but by who? Googling Sonic burning engine just brings up more results about Winamp and really old pages from the Roxio forums, was it made by another devision of AOL or something?

*If you have issues with Winamp, ensure you have the currently latest version Winamp v5.666 build 3516 & its patches that fix several issues
*To remove the currently dead Winamp online stuff, see here: removing online stuff
*If you miss the Autotag feature: Gracenote CDDB Autotag alternatives

it was always a 3rd party solution by Roxio (though iirc it changed ownership / name over the years - am thinking Veritas as an earlier version of it possibly). though i suspect Egg remembers better than i do. it was definitely not an internal AOL project to clarify that part of your question.

It was originally Sonic Solutions PX Engine when we first implemented it back in 2003.
It then changed ownership a few times to Veritas, Roxio and finally Corel

It's not received any updates since 2009 and will be removed & replaced in our next release...
