I created a program a while back for controlling the Edirol LVS-400 live video mixer/switcher board through MIDI. I created in it an entire fully user customizable global shortcuts feature that used a system wide keyboard hook to intercept keystrokes and to eat them if it matched my internal tables. Worked much better than I expected. I imagine that's how Winamp does it as well.
[EDIT/] If you're wondering how I did it, please see the MSDN documentation for "SetWindowsHookEx" and "WH_KEYBOARD". |
