.PLS file!

HI guys.
When it comes to technology, I'm about as useful as a chocolate mouthguard!
I am in need of some assistance.
So I hope you might be able to help me. (In simplified terms)
I have an SD card that I want to put mp3 onto to play in an audio player.
I have been told I need to make a .PLS file and add this file along with the MP3 files on the SD card so the audio player can read and play the MP3 files!
I was told you can create a .PLS file using WinAmp? is this possible? If so, how do you do it?
Do I have to do it manually or does WinAmp create one automatically that I can then add to my SD card?
I look forward to hearing from you.
Keep in mind i'm no spring chicken! So hopefully its not to technical!
