[http/1.1 401 authorization required] ????

I'm using 2 computers and have tried to solve the problem on both. When I atempt to play (as I have b4) a file from the site in2streams.com I recieve this messege: [http/1.1 401 authorizaton required]. The versions on both computers r the same and r the latest (5.551)One comp is an HP pavilion 2.4 quad running vista home premium with kepersky and the other is a brand new home made 2.0 ghz (geforce mobo, quite simple) running XP home with kepersky as well.no sound card in either that I know of. Tried turning off kepersky and running the file but to no avail and have contacted the site provider a few times and they don't seem to know anything.I'm not really that computer literate as in language or other stuff other than using the system for download intall and use of the programs I have, so try not to be too technical in answer and I would sure appreciate a hand to hold along the way if you know what I mean. ty

in2streams.com is a subscription type service, so it's not something we can test without paying first...

Please provide us with a sample url for one of their streams.

At a guess, Winamp doesn't support this type of http auth yet.
Currently, it only supports http auth for direct links to mp3 files, but not to any other file formats (m3u, pls, asx, etc).

We plan to implement global http auth in a forthcoming release...

Its a NSV file and I looked up what it was and its made specifically for nullsoft product so....I hope this URL is wht u need: http://www.in2streams.com/home/nsv/n...season=season1

I tried uninstalling it and installing an older version and it didn't even acknowledge that the file was being sent to it and didn't pop up and then uninstalled the old one and reinstalled the new again and the same thing happened. 401 authorization required. The site was made with the winamp as its primary and only means of playing files and they have only just recently expanded to an on site player, but it only plays a select popular few from a very large selection of television shows mostly in what they call the NSV archive. This has been how I have watched videos from this site for over 2 years so I hope this won't be a big problem. Thanks for your reply and I didn't mean to sound impatient b4 but I have enjoyed the winamp services for quite some time with no problems and was quite shocked when I did.Looking forward to your responce Vandave

Alas, I can't test the streams without subscribing (paying) first.

I'm not sure if nsv supports http auth (in Winamp),
but I'll try to find out...

...though if you say it used to work in an older version of Winamp, then I guess it must.

Which version # did it work in for you?

Have you tried adding your in2streams username & password to the url?
eg. http://username:password@streamurl....

Have you googled NSV? It stands for Nullsoft streaming video, nullsoft being the makers of winamp. If you would like I could give you my password info and you could try it for yourself and then when you were done I could simply change it to something else? Its just frustating cuz it has worked for every other version of winamp I have used and I pay for this service (in2streams that is) and there are no other players that play this content I think. I'll have to check that out for sure but I enjoy using winamp the best and don't want to change, plzzzz oorrr you could just pay a meazly 9.99 for just a month and try the service out for your self? Its a great service and you guys are in a way buiness parters. They use your sevice exclusively?......Just an idea and one I think you'll be happy with for some work related research, ya never know it might come in handy in the future dealings with this problem.

Hehe. Yes. I know what NSV is and stands for, lol.

Yes, if you could pm your username & password to me then that would help me with the testing.
But if you change it straight away, then the relevant Winamp dev won't be able to also test it.

But no, alas, I won't be paying 9.99 a month, heh.
Just trust me, and I'll let you know when you can change your password.

http authorization

Apologies if this is tangential or off-topic - I found that I can have WinAmp play http protected m3u files by selecting the file link on the web page using Firefox browser, logging in when prompted and then choosing WinAmp as the application to play the file. IE will enable login and then play with Windows media player. Chrome will enable login and then save the file to disk. Firefox enables login and then enables choice of player for playback. In my case once WinAmp was chosen for one session it becomes the Firefox default, which is to say the first-listed in the dropdown.
