Experimental Line In plugin

I've been toying with this off and on and recently transferred my development tools to my laptop (went nuts with boredom one day after finishing my job search) and finished some stuff in it.

Anyways, to wet your appetite (if you have one) it's attached in a zip file, no installer so you'll need to copy and paste the DLL file into your plugins folder manually.

The BIG thing with this line in plugin is that it supports updating the metadata through an external text file (sorry, no XML or UniCode support yet, still looking for a compatible XML reader/writer library) live during playback.

There are several methods of use:
  • A text file with the .bplivein extension containing the format information
  • Adding bplivein:// as a URL to your playlist (like the other LineIn plugin)
  • Making the above entry in a playlist file

This plugin supports all the extended tagging functions (through the external metadata file), live title updates through an external text file, and the Transcoder functions (so it's compatible with X-Fade.) It is also seekable (not that it will record and go back to previous audio grabbed but it will artificially extended (or shorten) the capture and playback on time limited entries.

Here is the full list of supported parameters (separated with commas):
sr (Sample rate, i.e. sr=44100)
nch (Number of channels, i.e. nch=2 (for stereo) nch=1 (for monorail) nch=6 (for 5.1 systems if your soundcard MME supports it))
bps (Bits Per Sample, i.e. bps=16 or bps=24 or or bps=8)
dev (NAME<-- (not the ID) of the input device to use, i.e. dev=Virtual Cable 2)
len (Total length in seconds of audio data to retrieve (-1 for infinite) i.e. len=120)
title (Title to display in the playlist or whatever in lieu of a metadata file, i.e. title=Live DJ)
metafile (Full path to the external metadata file to use, i.e. metafile=C:\Documents and Settins\DJ Bob\My Documents\metadata.txt)

The metadata file is formatted in the following way:
[name of parameter]: [value of parameter]
...
[name of parameter]: [value of parameter]

Example:
title: DJ
artist: Live
album: From Nowhere
comments: No comment!

Updating the metadata in the playlist will update the metadata file. Updating the metadata file updates the title of the playlist entry (and the SHOUTcast metadata) when it's playing live.

I forgot to install my favorite image editing software so the about box is incomplete and has no logo yet (still can't think of one anyway.)

Here's an example playlist entry:
code:
bplivein://title=Live,sr=44100,nch=2,bps=16,len=120,dev=Virtual Cable 2,metafile=C:\Documents and Settings\Your\My Documents\metadata.txt

The above example will open the virtual cable 2 device at 44.1k samples per second with 16 bits in stereo using the metadata.txt file for metadata inside your My Documents folder and will play for only 2 minutes.

There is also a Wizard (of sorts) that can help you make files and entries (accessible from the configuration window.)

uploading of attachments does work but it depends on which forum server is being hit at the time. yes it's annoying as hell since it affects some of us with more powers as well but forums is generally < * at the moment, though will see if i can try to nudge people again (though i'm not expecting much hope seeing as it's been going on almost a year now).

and this plug-in sounds a bit like the old one from http://home.hccnet.nl/th.v.d.gronde/...WA2/index.html (but with some sort of support for the time being ).

There are options missing in mine where present in that one (don't remember which) but mine has other features not available in the other as well (live external metadata/tag updates, transcoder support, device names instead of device IDs, can use either a file or a url to use, etc...)

Bloody file factory fails.

The forums are still being a jerk about attachments.

External host (hopefully it works):

Hmmm, I can't download from the link without signing up with filedropper. They seem to want PayPal or a credit card even for their 7 day free trial. Is there another free file downloader you can post to?

BogProg LiveIn 2.0 available for download.

Changes:
  • Removed VCL
  • Fixed internal bad references to the selected input device.
  • Added Unicode support for filenames and metadata values. The metadata file now stores unicode data in UTF-8 MBCS.

Download

Any chance you can mirror your files with GoogleDrive or OneDrive ?

Mashups ? Smells like a lot of "Fishy Business" to me.

Apologies for another thread bump - but I would also like to test this plugin if possible! Anyone still have a copy? I was able to download the earlier version.
