How to embed radio station on a site ?

The old shoutcast before they sold it used to work on websites.

When it got sold, there was a period when the embedded player did not connect correctly to the server.

Now it works, but i can't seem to find on shoutcast site the embedded code in order to insert a radio on another site.

The old code looked like this :

code:
<embed src='http://www.shoutcast.com/media/popupPlayer_V19.swf?stationid=http://yp.shoutcast.com/sbin/tunein-station.pls?id=27198&play_status=1' quality='high' bgcolor='#ffffff' width='398' height='104' name='popupPlayer_V19' align='middle' allowScriptAccess='always' allowFullScreen='true' type='application/x-shockwave-flash' pluginspage='http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer' ></embed>

Help me please.

the old embedded player is not officially supported (though the old embed codes will likely still work for a while) and was only re-enabled as a temporary solution until the new shoutcast.com site is implemented. as such, you really should look to use an alternative instead of it.

Will the new shoutcast site provide an official embedding code when completed ?

Is this site : http://www.shoutcast.com/ not ready yet ?

When do you think the shoutcast site will be officially re-lunched ?

Thank you.

i don't believe it has been decided if it will or won't (though there's plenty of options to use as the old embedded player is horrible).

it's a temporary site whilst a proper one is developed.

depends entirely how long it takes for the developers to complete it.

you can use something like jplayer or any of the ones which hosting providers like wavestreaming or museter or anyone else provide (it's really not hard to find an embedded player for a site).

nope. you can just use jplayer directly to achieve an embedded player (as that's all we're using on the site anyway so an embed code like the old AOL version wouldn't make much sense).

be careful with what you choose
I am having real trouble with a still "active" player that's not flushing memory
3,8gb ram from chrome, now that's some good shit

if someone has a good mp3 flash or html5 player, that either had good themes or is open for custom styles, please post it here, I'm looking for something dark to fit my page

Marvin from StreamLicensing was using jplayer as a test to try and make some money for stations via video only ads while people listened to the station. It didn't seem to work that well. I did some beta tests for him and he has scrapped that player that was tested. A lot of Flash Players would not disconnect properly when I tried to use them Even the copy/paste to your web page player from Wavestreaming (I think it was called) and I even tried the FREE one from l i s t e n 2 m y r a d i o (not the one that is used for their FREE service) but the one that can be used with any premium Shoutcast host. Often I'd tune into my station and if I went away and re tuned it would make another connection leaving the last one still connected. This is a real problem when your paying per slot on your license.

I do wish entities like Sound Exchange would simply allow direct clicks to your station so that folks can just use something like Winamp, iTunes or whatever and scrap Flash Player. After all it can be as bad as a stream ripper when it makes multiple connections from the same IP address.

this isn't aimed at anyone specifically...

its tricky enough getting audio to work correctly on all of the main browsers via html5 / flash based playback so its no wonder there were issues trying to do video playback.

as currently MP3 based SHOUTcast streams are just about playable via html5 audio playback though it depends on the DNAS version used and / or how its been configured. as out of the main browsers we have to force disable html5 audio playback in internet explorer with jplayer on the site since it won't cope with the ICY headers the DNAS typically provides (all of the other ones will work well with it).

when using a v2.2.x DNAS we can force it to provide http style headers instead of icy headers for Directory provided tuneins which for playback typically resolves the main issues flash solutions have with memory consumption and connection issues. its also why with v2.2.2 we've made the default behaviour to be http headers instead of icy headers so connections not from the Directory can work correctly for html5 playback out of the box without having to mess around with things.

for the v1.x DNAS there is nothing that can be done to make it play nicely via html5 audio playback other then updating to the current DNAS. and as adoption of browsers which don't require having flash present to be able to access SHOUTcast MP3 based streams, its making using a v1.x DNAS even more of a risk as its now starting to hinder listeners from being able to easily play the streams without having to install something else (which is even more relevant with the growth of mobile).

as for AAC playback, as we provide adts-aac streams, they will not work with the html5 or flash solutions on most cases and really requires the stream being provided in an mp4 wrapper and is something which can be done in the DNAS if implemented to re-map things to the format required. this is probably something which will need to happen sooner rather than later as mp4-aac playback support is far better than it was a few years ago and as its supported by html5 and flash, to ensure SHOUTcast streams will work whatever the listener software, the server / stream needs to provide the correct format (as the shoutcast.com site player not supporting AAC has been the biggest unfixed request from users since I've been involved with things).and without a DNAS uodate and people then using it, things will never get better on that playability and that only hurts stations and annoys the potential listeners.

my parting thought... the v1.x DNAS has become very much like how IE6 became to be viewed, nice at the time it came out but years later it's holding things back and needs to be put out to pasture. that holds true for the v1.x DNAS as its fundamentally holding back things on the SHOUTcast platform which to put it bluntly is pissing off a lot of users of the site and API partners who want to do more but cannot e.g. finding local SHOUTcast stations near to you (which listeners have frequently requested as well).

The custom CMS that we are building utilizes soundmanager2

http://www.schillmania.com/projects/soundmanager2/

We should be launching the entire CMS next month so it will be live soon. You guys will be able to see it in action.

I own a lifetime player license from wavestreaming. I will be selling it once my CMS is done being developed. I think that might be right up your alley with what you need.

Just a suggestion.

Update I have done test with both players

Live Streams player shows more album covers and original album covers

Radiotuna a lot of the the time it shows a greatest hits cover and not the original album cover for that track it will show a greatest hits cover and from time to time it list a track and cover for a track that is not currently playing

Radiotuna shows like 40% to 60% Less album covers than Live Streams. Radiotuna will not show the album cover if the artist and title of track are in the track title. Live Streams will show album cover if it can find it even if tags are not done correctly

you shouldn't rely on players to display info for you because they're generally shit and unreliable unless you pay for them
you should make your own php script to fetch whatever info you need, I find it much easier to customize and to implement well on my page than some closed-source player.

now I'm not sure whether you can fetch the artwork directly but you sure can assign every song to an image if your playlist is not that big

I have done a good amount of searching on Google currently these 2 are the only embed players I could find that show album cover and most players now days do not even listed the current track. If the embed player does not even list current track playing the player is junk

simple player, songs parsed with php from the admin site

Why would it be junk, I prefer a simple and stable player that can be easily swapped with any other player(html5 for example) without affecting the integrity of the webpage or the information shown, all that because I display info sepparately. What you see in the picture are the current and next song

I agree that the player should display the current song playing. However if not you could use (If your licensed with StreamLicensing) Marvin's script that displays the current song and the last 10 tracks you've previously played. This way you give the listener info on what they can expect from your station. Many stations already do this.

The HTML5 code is:
code:
<audio src="http://173.239.76.146:80/;" controls autoplay></audio>

Hi, I know this thread is kinda old, but it's kinda similar to what I want to do, so if you could help a newbie out that would be really cool So me and two friends creating a website for our itsy-bitsy hometown and we want to embed a local radio station on our website. We set up the site using this website template, the site is now almost finished but I'm not sure how to adapt the HTML code in order embed the radio stream onto the site. I gave the station a ring and they are fine with us using the radio stream on our site, but they couldn't tell me exactly how to do it.

Can someone explain to me how this is done? Since we have been using a wysiwyg editor, I'm unsure of how to make modifications.

I know DrO says the old AOL player is horrible, but it works and has worked well for years. I have yet to find another player that is as easy to implement and also shows title info. (Though that appears to have stopped working on my implementations of the old AOL flash player.)

It would be nice to see the official Shoutcast flash player continue to be supported/developed.

Either way, thanks for the great service and for keeping Shoutcast alive.

and it was horrible and it didn't work very well which was based on the 4 years of complaints about the thing that I'd been aware off at the time of its demise. plus things are changing how streams can be played and there's a lot more options (including what I've referenced to) than just a Flash players (and the issues Flash has with SHOUTcast streams).
