How to keep files from being renamed going to MP3 player?

I have looked everywhere and tried everything, but I cannot keep this from happening: when I synchronize a playlist to my iRiver H10, the tracks are automatically renamed to <track #> - <track title>. I do not want the file names to change at all, they're exactly the way I want them (<artist> - <title>) and it seems to be causing issues when transferring files. Media Monkey does not rename the files and they transfer just fine, it's just that MM has some other issues.

EDIT: I am talking about Winamp 5.5, trying to synchronize to an iRiver H10 20GB, running on Windows Vista. There's not much else to say here - this is functionality/an option that should be very easy to find, yet I can't keep it from happening.

I know this is super dead thread, but I was looking for the same thing and ended up finding the solution.

With your device connected to Winamp navigate to Options -> Preferences

On the left hand side select your device under Portables.

Select the Advanced tab and adjust the File Name Format to match the naming convention of your files.

My apologies for being a Necromancer.
