Stream audio files direct from folder?
Is there a simple way to just stream audio files (non-stop), directly from a folder on my linux server? (Without using winamp.)

nope, SHOUTcast doesn't work that way. you need to have a source which will decode the file(s) and pass it to the DNAS server. you could use an auto-dj like sc_trans on the broadcast server to create the stream data for the DNAS server. but if you want to provide direct links to specific files on the server then SHOUTcast will not do that for you.

source = program like Winamp + Source DSP
without a source you don't have a stream. so if you want to have files just playing (often referred to as an 'auto-dj') then you'd need to install a source on the broadcast server and have that configured to play the files and connect to the DNAS server (the bit listeners connect to). |

Is there a good "source" / auto dj that you can install and administrate directly from the web interface? |

nothing comes to mind (sc_trans will do it but there's no decent web-ui for it) unless you look at 3rd party control panels and that will range from free to very expensive (but then you tend to get a better solution if you pay out for things) unless you want to code your own.
