Thank you Flexi. Btw, trickster zenarchy is beautiful.
I love soul music, didn't know that song, nice one. And just for the record, the original jazz singer was Asa Yoelson, an american-lithuanian better known as Al Jolson, who has his face painted black on what is generally accepted as the first sound picture back in 1927. Thank you wikipedia.

These days have been just great. I found last week that when adding the instruction
sample=instance/num_instance
to any wave per-pixel code, it can be used as a shape's code. The results are ... well, check it out!
Also included are "out here" and "octopus isotropus", written before.

Very pretty, these multi shapes.

I always found it's a pity that shapes cannot be tilted to construct 3D models, but I must admit that the sheer mass of them still provide quite a good spatial impression. Cool.

the camera flight is awesome! great work on that.
the "inside the typhoon" and "probe" presets are my favorites though.

I've been thinking of some "wet paint" remixes, but i'm too busy. i have to sort a lot of things out in my life, but milkdrop will always be my passion

if you'd like to do me a favor, please try some complex atom modeling - some carbon, oxygen, nitrogen you know? stuff that builds us up.

keep it up

A couple more presets. In flashy thing the shape radius is related to the rotation parameter p, giving some interesting, though flashy results.
One question. Are there equations that allow to "travel" along a wave/shape? That would be something. Cheers.

hey, that flashy thing is cool
I'm not sure if i got you right, but if you want to translate over a wave i suggest a simple shift on the sample variable

sample = sample + your_phase_shift;
sample = sample - int(sample);

also i guess you'd like to take a closer look at my bezier curve implementation as seen in the elastic thread prototype

Hi. What I wanted is to simulate a camera in 3d space that would travel the path of the curve, always looking forward. Meanwhile, here is knot ride 2.

what do you want to use them for exactly - they fit many purposes.
if you point me to the doc, i will explain.

i guess you're interested in the 3D stuff, right? - the wikipedia article gives a good introduction. come back with more concrete question and we will see

i also thought about the camera path - you will have to work with the partial derivatives. derivatives of polymones and sine/cosine aren't quite hard, but it's still a lot of math. I don't find too much time and pleasure in delving into math these days ...but i'm subconsciously working on it

Well, to start it will be easier to see some presets that make use of the matrices. I tried to simulate a camera movement along the wave by adding the wave path to the wave equation and using the atan of the path coordinates as angle of rotation. I will post the preset tomorrow, but it is far from perfect. The idea was to build something in the AVS's Tokyo bullet style.

I finally got it, using the good ole equations. It's working fine at least for this wave. Here is supertubes.

there was a little bug with the aspect ratio issues.
i fixed that for you, see the last two lines in the custom wave code - now the shapes and the wave overlay correctly

Thank you Flexi, it's looking much better now. Here is a an updated version including a parameter in the preset per-frame equation to set the simulation speed.
When I was about 7 I visited with my parents the amusement park of Madrid. The one thing I remember better was the Gusano Loco (mad worm) which looked just like this. Well, maybe not exactly.

move those hips,

i was wonder if someone could do this with maybe waves instead, as with all my clouded presets, the waveform for which was stolen from who knows where (too lazy to grep even), making 3-d ovals that did something similar, and thus joints, swiveling in random arcs, articulators,

very cool,

i wish i wasn't lazy at maths and everything else in life, again, realizing, nobody wanted to know

This doll is made of one single piece, deforming alltogether. Making a doll with joints and separate parts is feasible but time consuming. I think this method worked well here because it conveys a fluidity that fits the dancing movements. It won't work to animate a runner, for instance.
