LONG DELAY when playing an mp3

Hey all, I've been having this problem for about a year now, hopefully someone can help me out with it.

Whenever I try to open an mp3 file (yes, the latest version of winamp is the default player), it will take about 25-30 seconds for winamp to open and play the song. Windows Media Player 10 does the same thing whenever I try to open anytype of movie file.

HOWEVER, I noticed today that when I'm disconnected from the internet (i have dsl), winamp will open any mp3 file in about 1 second, without any lag or delay - as well as Windows media player will play any movie file in 1 second too. But as soon as I enable my connection again to the internet, it takes another 30 seconds to play a different mp3.

It's clear that both programs are checking the internet for updates, plugins or something. I have disabled "automatically check for updates" for BOTH Winamp and WMP, but this has NOT corrected my problem whenever try to play mp3's (using winamp) or play movies (using WMP) and my computer's connected to the internet.

I've also tried disabling my firewall software when I have my dsl on and tried to play mp3's or movies with no luck.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!

Never disable your firewall.

Post a HijackThis log taken when you're connected to the internet.

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AutoRun] c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\loadie.EXE

Loadie.exe is Trojan.UpdateX

Checkmark that one entry ONLY in the HJT scan results window,
and click "Fix checked"

Reboot

Delete c:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\loadie.EXE

Use CCleaner to delete all Temp and Temporary Internet Files.

I'd also like to note that it takes 20 seconds to open up any type of image file or zip file as well.

THIS IS DRIVING ME ABSOLUTELY CRAZY!!
