Question about the RANDOM/SHUFFLE function

Hey all!
Actually I am not new into Winamp, but I've never used the random function (or shuffle function, whatever its called...) which is integrated in the program.
Here my question about it:
How does the random function works?
Does it play all songs in random order once, before it plays a song twice?
If it does not: Is there a plugin you know, which does this?
Maybe you know a plugin which plays in random order e.g. five songs of one genre and then changes to another genre and plays five songs of that. That would be great

Thanks for your support!!

The Shuffle button in Winamp randomizes the list. It is a true random with no memory. Therefore, it has no knowlage of what was played before. Therefore something could place twice or more before another track plays. Just luck of the randome number generator.

Now if you want a shuffled list where each song plays exactly once before repeating, you can just randomize the playlist in the Playlist editor. It's under sort.

"Maybe you know a plugin which plays in random order e.g. five songs of one genre and then changes to another genre and plays five songs of that."

Thanks!!

I simply don't believe this is true. My list always plays pretty much the same songs, even with a list of 6000+ songs. for example it would never play Bush or Skunk anansie because I hadn't listened to them in years. then one weekend I played them with shuffle off, just going through the full albumns, now when I turn shuffle on again it will play these songs more fequently. there is a certain Smashings Pumpkins song that it plays WAY to frequently, what's more I reckon that the shuffle playing a song marks it as being played again which just means that the shuffle functino will eventually only play a very limited selection of songs.

just my 2c.
