Album art question

A lot of album art plugins use the image in the directory of the mp3 to retrieve the album art, but when you have mp3s that are not in albums. Therefore a directory that has various artists (like a bunch of singles) then it seems to be unable to retrieve the correct cover. I was wondering is there a way to assign a cover to a mp3 ?

add the album name to the id3tag perhaps?
this way there is a reference in the mp3 to the right album.

if you are not sure on which album --> www.allmusic.com

Each Thursday a new show on Celtica Radio with Darkwave music.

Several plugins give you the option to choose which file will be used as album art. Perhaps you can configure it to show a picture with the albums name and put the files manually to each directory. I can't think of anything better than that. I'm using toaster for its notifications with classic skins and it seems to me that u can do that.

Yep, toaster can do that
Under the 'Covers' tab, just tell it where the file is and how it is formatted. You can set a specific directory like: C:\Covers\%Artist% - %Album% or have the same thing in the directory the music is in. Cover & Tag has similar options: http://www.angelfire.com/blog/richter/
Both depend on the tag info EXACTLY matching what the cover file is named.
Both also support embedding the cover in the ID3V2 tag...
