albums worthy of purchase

now that downloading music has basically "ruined" the record industry...i was thinking what albums are out there that are actually worthy of spending money on.

Oh and anyone want to suggest any current albums i might have never heard of that you cannot live without...i still need to broaden my horizon.

Not to derail this thread but several major labels are reporting record profits.

If you want recommendations it's probably best to list stuff you already like. Otherwise you might some really wierd stuff.

Check out Silvertide if you like classic rock. You probably never heard of them before, but I say they are worth a listen to if you like the older rock.

http://silvertidemusic.com

Also I think that you can listen to their full album from this site

haha, yeah thats why i had ruined in quotes....

right now,i like a lot of indie stuff and i would like to find more of it. when i was young i like DMB, that transitioned to ben harper and incubus, then more ben when he released another album. onto jack johnson. I like lit, and bands like them. Im onto "the" bands right now. i like jet, the streets, the killers. I own a "few" albums already btw. perhaps im headed towards emo.

ive always listened to classic rock. i shall check silvertide out.

i also like jazz singers if anyone knows of any unheard ofs.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. The Gathering kicks ass. I couldn't live without this CD.

norah jones has kind of a jazzy sound i guess. i'm not sure about any unknowns though. "the postal service" i think is pretty good. i think "give up" is the name of the album i have right now.

The Jack Johnson/Ben Harper kind of sound is quite rare. I like that sort of stuff too. Do you know David Gray? He's Irish I believe and his stuff is pretty good, plus also a little in the same style.

Velvet Revolver is awsome...Best new album out of recent times, just because of the raw hard rock feel it has, obviously found since 3/5ths of the GNR lineup makes this band...

Van Halen and Van Halen II...I shouldn't even have to explain who Eddie Van Halen is... And the rest of the band shows no weak spots either...Who knew such 70's albums would sound so fresh even today?

I already have it. It's really good. It doesn't count as a major album in my opinion, and doesn't feel like it either.
