Need help with Wiimote and MIDI

This is my first post, I hope I have the right forum...

I have some experience hacking the Wiimote, and with MIDI programming in general. I even added a Pixart chip to my latest laser harp revision.

I'm looking for a way to read the IR data from a WiiMote and incorporate this into MilkDrop, *but* also take this data into my own application for MIDI processing.

What I would like to do is have MilkDrop respond to the "dots" detected by attaching LEDs to my hands, but then also hook into this data stream and use it to drive a MIDI synth (actually a VST) that is also fed into MilkDrop via the "linein:" feature of Winamp.

Do I need to mod the source of Milkdrop? Or are there enough hooks in place already that I can just write a preset?

As I say, new to Milkdrop, hope someone out there can help.

Cheers,
Steve Hobley
