Crash when Android smartphone is plugged

With Winamp 5.6 I cannot use my Android smartphone as a usb storage device anymore.
When the smartphone is plugged winamp crashes immediately. No matter if Winamp is started before or after plugging the smartphone.
I had no problems with Winamp 5.5.

Android smartphone: Motorola Defy (Android 2.1)
Windows: XP and 7 (both 32 Bit)
Winamp 5.6 clean install. No extra plugins.

AppName: winamp.exe AppVer: ModName: msvcr90.dll
ModVer: 9.0.30729.4148 Offset: 00056b6a

Feel free to ask if you need more info.

I just want to add that I have the same experience (although i'm not sure if the error message is the same) with my SE W995, which is not android powered... Probably not the issue of android

I figured out a little workaround for this problem:
