Winamp 2.81 or 3?

Hey everyone,

This is my first post. I've been using Winamp 2.xx for a few years now... and I've always been happy with it. I upgrade it whenever there is a new one of course. However, I had no idea there was a Winamp3 that came out in the early part of 2001. My question is this now... which one should I use? I did d/l WinAmp3 the other day and while it was neat, it actually "moved" slower than v.2.xx and it seemed to use up more RAM than the latter. I did, however, like some of the added features. In any event, what advice do you all have about which one to use? If Winamp3 is so great, why do they keep making revisions of 2? For people like me? I appreciate all advice! Thanks!

first off, wa3 is a different prog than wa2. also the final of winamp3 was released just last month. as for your question... it's a matter of personal opinion on which one you use. and if you like both, they can coexist happily in their own dirs. btw tervetuola to the forums (that's the extent of my finnish command )

hehehe!

This is a hot topic. You'll find a lot of different opinions around here. Mine personally is, stick with 2.81 for the time being!

depends 2.81 has less features but need's less Ram and CPU.

3 is the super delux (and still a bit buggy) version.

3.0 has some awesome skins, but no visual displays yet...or i think..

2.81 uses less ram and memory, still has alot of skins, and has 100's of components to dl from

Hi,

and welcome to the forums!

P.S. I mainly use 2.8. But I also use 3 for experimentell reasons. Once it becomes less buggy... I'll switch

i switched completely to winamp3 a few builds before the final... i know it's a different program and stuff... it just bugs me to have something when there's a newer one out... but winamp3 is still buggy, and it locks up on my computer at random somtimes... i still like it though, and i think it's awesome... no complaints here. guess it just depends, like everyone else is saying, on what you prefer: new and groundbreaking or tried and true.

btw welcome

Hey guys,

Thanks for the input! I really appreciate it. Yeah, I think I will keep 2, at least for the time being. I'm a big fan of conserving RAM and CPU usage! Thanks again!!!
