Balance Re-set issue

Every time I re-start Winamp the volume balance re-sets to far left, (right speaker off), and fixing the balance on the equalizer does work but only temporary because when I close Winamp and re-open it the balance is re-set back to far left again!
I had this issue once before and I was not able to fix it but installed a new hard drive a few months ago and the issue did not re-appear till now. A friend was messing with it yesterday while I was away for a few minutes and now I have the issue again. Don’t know what caused it or if my friend had anything to do with it but I can’t fix it.
I have tried going into all the settings, (I am pretty good at using this program’s features), but nothing works. I have re-set my sound card settings, re-set Winamp to default settings, removed and re-installed Winamp (also deleted settings when un-installed), but still have the balance re-set issue.
