something in the config is pointing to somewhere that doesn't exist - without seeing the config, it's a mad guessing game at best

So I did

by the way - in the meantime, I installed VirtualBox, created and fired up a virtual 64bit linux, downloaded and unpacked the 64bit DNAS 2, and ran it (did not edit a single file) with the exact command you posted - it all works fine

so - if you edited the config file, that's where the problem most likely lies

"If you don't like DNAS, write your own damn system"

So I did

Here is my config witch I didn't edit much
Quote:
; NOTE: for any relative paths specified are relative to
; sc_serv and not to where the conf file is being stored

; here we will setup where the log and other related files
; will be stored. make sure that these folders exist else
; sc_serv will throw an error and will close itself down.
; we will make the logs save to the sc_serv2 directory
logfile=logs/sc_serv.log
w3clog=logs/sc_w3c.log
banfile=control/sc_serv.ban
ripfile=control/sc_serv.rip

; the following will force any sources to be public which
; allows us to then connect and be listed on the YP
publicserver=always

; password used by sc_trans or the Winamp DSP plug-in
; NOTE: remember to change this to something else
password=< broadcast pass>

; password used for accessing the administation pages
; NOTE: remember to change this to something else
adminpassword=<admin pass>

; as we are going to connect to the YP then we need to fill
; in the required options so we can authenticate to the YP2
; see sc_serv.txt - section 3.0 for details on getting this
;
; make sure that you completely replace the string
; <enter_your_auth_key_here> with the authorisation key you
; obtained when registering the stream for the SHOUTcast YP
; e.g. if you auth hash key is 12345 then the line would be
; streamauthhash=12345
streamauthhash=
The flies it needs are in there folders as described I have used this system before so i know it used to work then my data center went down and sc2 never worked since. I am running Debian 6 64 bit thanks in advanced for any help Dj White Wolf - Blu Paw Radio

that error is nothing to do with the config of the DNAS but is how the host you are using has been configured as that error basically happens due to a lack of a properly configured host name.

see the later posts of http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=337029 on what to change (though it appears at the top of a search for such issues with the DNAS).

also read http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....79532#remember to amend your config file and pass it on to any one else able to change settings for 'Blu Paw Radio' so i don't have to keep clearing out dead/duplicate authhash from the system coming from the station.

Thanks DrO! You made me realize my friend messed up the host file causing there to be an error every time you did almost anything. Now my shoutcast 2 sever is up and running Thanks for all your help, Dj White Wolf - Blu Paw Radio

rightio, just make sure to pass on / follow the #remember link as you and others shouldn't be needing to keep creating new authhash's everytime the source disconnects or you restart the DNAS server.
