Okay, I've been wandering around the forums and attempting to count all the peope who winamp 5 for all the wrong reasons: they didn't uncheck options in the install, they didn't uncheck the AOL ads, they didn't check the w4ff|3 maker in the syrup section, they forgot to rotate thier tires and now they have to buy a whole new set...blah blah blah.

Is it wrong for me to go and tell these people to shut the fuck up? Should I just keep me to myself? the n00bs are killing me. It's a burden to have to tell half the n00bs that they're morons when I'd rather welcome them to thier ridiculous opinions.
Anyway..is it right or wrong to bash stupid n00bs who start a new "I hate wa5 cause my girlfriend left me" every five seconds?

they all don't bother me, it's just the arrogant ones who just come in to say "This sucks" and troll for supporters. Course, no one supports their threads because they're all too busy making thier own threads.

Seriously, I just filter everyone around me, including in real life. If there is even a chance that someone will be annoying and not have a redeeming value, then I'm immediately blind to them, like they're not there at all. In fact, I have no idea what your talking about with n00bs, because I've only seen maybe two in the past several days on all the WA boards. Traffic's been kinda slow on this side of my filter.

In all, I would suspect that I only see about 10% of the people in front of me at any given moment. Believe me when I say the filter prevents a lot of stress in my life.

(BTW...I still voted "no" because you're not one the people I filter out, I refuse to call you a malicious twerp, and to be honest I'm not against other people burning n00bs anyway. To each his/her own. )

There are the ones who think. These ones know they dont know nothing (/me confused here), but as they think, they make suitable questions, and/or search the forums to find the answer ... also they are very polite, and must be no problem with them.
On the other hand, there are the ones that just don't have enough gray stuff on their heads, and make stupid questions, with not-that-polite statements ... These ones are the ones tha should burn in hell ...

the problem is, they aren't tech questions. they're blatant "I'm right and you guys suck." posts. I stay away from the tech forums because I don't know what I'm doing unless it's really obvious, and I suck at helping people when I don't know what they're talking about.

The "I'm right and you guys suck" attitudes are exactly what I filter out. I don't even need the "Ignore" setting...they just disappear before my eyes.

I know what you mean about the techie stuff. I'm no Winamp guru, but I've studied audio encoding for years, so I try to jump on those questions when I see 'em. I still get burned with "I'm right and you guys suck" sometimes, even on a tech question. That's life.

Where'd he go anyway? ...must admit he did spark a slight chuckle, on the whole I find them some what boring. Odd times I'll send the genuine one's in the right direction if I can. You can tend to filter the silly ones from the genuine ones after a while...

He probably could have enlightened me about poetry. Then again a four year old could have done that. My mind just isn't abstract enough for that. I would have liked to see him argue poetry with a couple of friends who are just about finished with their english majors. One who pretty much got a free ride through school from her writings.

That kinda nails the point: The biggest newbie mistake is claiming to know more than you do...being a Newbie Know-It-All. If you're serious about wanting to fit into any forum as a new member: ask questions, answer only the ones you're sure of, and always be respectful of the more established members.
