Are the songs unlocked? When you try to play a song for the 1st time, it tries to connect to the net with your default browser and do some Java magic to the WMA. It should be no surpise to you why WMA sucks: its a format from Micro$oft.

When I downloaded Kid Rock's American Badass in wma, i tried to play it on winamp. it didn't open my browser or connect me to the net. It just did not play like it doesn't exist or something.

i got that same song to check it out, and the file does cause winamp to fetch a page from the net to unlock the file. i remember when digital music didn't require you to be connected to the internet to download 30 day unlock codes for your music. f*** wma.

Screw it, I'll just have to surf napster for 400 hours to find someone that has the UNCUT version anyways. And when I do, the connection will be slow and they'll terminate my download when I get 60% complete! As for winamp.com they should change their .wma downloads to .mp3s or some other type of format. Screw Napster and screw microsoft.

Don't you need Windows Media Player to be installed before you can play WMA files with Winamp? Maybe that's the problem.

Hello, sharksfan2000

Playing WMA files requires to have a codec installed on your machine. To get, this codec, click on this link : http://members.xoom.com/QuinqSoft/fi...udioredist.zip
By the way, I've just discovered a small free program called Cool Decode which can convert mp3 but also WMA to wav. You may want to try to convert your WMA file to Wav, then to MP3 (back up your WMA file first !)using this program (here again, the codec has to be installed on your machine). To get, Cool Decode, click this link: http://members.xoom.com/QuinqSoft/files/CoolDecode.zip
Well, I hope it helps.

It's not up to us. We have to do it in secure WMA format because it's the only legal way.

Ok, so in order for Winamp.com to feature these tracks is to put some sort of protection on them, I see.
