Dumb question - Plug ins
Sorry guys - I did hunt the forum but couldn't find what I wanted.
I'm using Winamp 5.094 and wish to play .fla files. I've put 'in_flac.dll' into C:\Winamp\Plugins and Winamp preferences shows 'FLAC Decoder v1.1.2-beta [in_flac.dll]' in the Input Plugins list. But .fla files won't play. What have I missed or done wrong? Thanks - Kirk |

Just rename them to .flac.
You can do this in Windows Explorer (My Computer). If you cannot see the file extension on the file, though you will have to change that option in Windows. Tools > Folder Options > View Uncheck "Hide extensions for know file types" |

Many thanks - yes that works.
However my encoder insists on .fla To avoid renaming every instance, is there another way? Thanks - Kirk |

Both .fla and .flac work for me.
Using 'Reference FLAC decoder v 1.1.1 (with ML support)' http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=143614 Are both extentions shown(and selected) in Winamp Prefs > File types. UJ |

Hi UJ,
No, only FLAC is shown. I've got a tick beside Restore file associations. Should this include .fla ? I unsure how to add an filetype extension. Cheers - Kirk |

First upgrade to Winamp latest version(5.12).
AFAIK the file types shown in Prefs > File types are put there by the plugins you have installed. If FLA is not shown then I guess you have a faulty install or the particular plugin doesn't recognize that extention. Not sure from what you've posted so far if you are using the same decoder as I am. Is it a later version of the one I linked to in the plugins section. Uninstall what you have already and reinstall. Or try v1.1.1(from the link) instead. You may need to uninstall the flac plugin via Control Panel > Add/remove programs. UJ |

Hi UJ. All instructions followed and .fla and .flac
are plying fine. The other plugin was found via Google and now suitably binned! If it was a later version of yours, it wasn't as good. Thanks - Kirk |
