Help on how to set up shoutcast on a Raspberry Pi
Hi,
Has anyone sucessfully set up shoutcast to cast audio via a playlist from a Raspberry Pi, or know of a step by step guide on how to do this. I have currently set up my Raspberry pi as a webserver but would really like to be able to run my Radio Station from my Raspberry Pi as well. But am unsure how this would be achievable. Also is a player that can be run on the Raspberry Pi (similar to WinAmp), that would allow me cast my stations playlist. Any help would be much appreciated. |

describe what you mean by 'via a playlist'
i havent checked those out much but its to my understanding that they run linux and have a network interface. as long as you can meet the system requirements for the broadcasting software you wish to run, i dont see what the problem could be... (and again i havent read up much on the pi's) |

Hi,
I managed to set up on my Pi a player "MPD", which supports playlist and streams via another streaming server program, by following a tutorial I found on the net. As I could not find any tutorials for shoutcast. So looks like I will have to use this other alternive streaming program until there is a tutorial for shoutcast. |

all that is provided by SHOUTcast for the Raspberry Pi is the DNAS. you have to provide your own source software to work with it (as is indicated in the documentation included with the DNAS server - which also shows how to get the DNAS up and running i.e. run the setup mode).
as i only ever got the DNAS working on it (sc_trans as-was would never have worked on it) and used relays / sources on other machines to test the streaming capabilities of the Raspberry Pi build of the DNAS. |
