Stream output over powering PLEASE HELP

Okay I play live (Stream) in the game called secondlife. I stream through Winamp and shoutcast. But everyone is telling me that the tracks coming threw winamp is over powering the stream (The tracks are too loud) and im getting a distortion noise. I do play with a guitar port also.. so i dont think that would be a problem.. Is there anyway to turn the volume down and make the dbs not redline to 00dbs? i cant just turn the sound down then i wont be able to hear the tracks.. can someone help me?

I have a dell with windows Vista with the latest winamp installed

Just turn down the volume of the line-in port that you are using and it should sort itself out. You just have the level set too high in the mixer most likely.
