It's all relative, the file will still be in the Winamp\Plugins\ml directory (or %appdata%\Winamp for multi-user settings) no matter where you install it.

If you install it onto X:\Path to\Winamp then it will be X:\Path to\Winamp\Plugins\ml\main.dat. %appdata% will be resolved by Windows Explorer to point you in the right direction.

What? Are you trying to say that you don't understand the information being given here?

Nunzio pointed out the links from the Frequently Asked Question which cover how to backup data stored in the Media Library, this includes the playcount.

I then posted some further information about where to find the files. I said the where Winamp stores its settings and everything else is relative to where you installed it.

If you installed Winamp to C:\Program Files\Winamp then the library database is stored in:
C:\Program Files\Winamp\Plugins\ml\main.dat

If you installed Winamp to D:\Software\Players\Winamp then the file is:
D:\Software\Players\Winamp\Plugins\ml\main.dat

A general way to say this is to type:
X:\Path to Winamp\Plugins\ml\main.dat

But if you use the multi user settings option then Winamp stores it settings in %appdata%\Winamp. The %appdata% thing is called an Enviroment Variable and when entered into Windows Explorer address bar it will be resolved (translated/converted/changed) into the correct path. This is controlled by Windows and varies between every different version and possibly different installation settings.

J_Darnley...

Hey!! You actually translated the unintelligible, grammatically challenged and horribly shortened "dont 'stand" semi-statement above to a fully understandable English "I don't understand" statement and then replied!

Wow! Good job!

There is no need for chat-speak on a forum as there is no need to post something in 5 seconds as it will not be seen for a few minutes. If you don't start typing out full words and in understandable English, I will stop helping you. It will take more time to get a reply if you have to post again to explain what you posted previously.

Anyway what the hell do "NOW THESE WE USED SHORTENING" and "i bet u didnt understand the line about" mean? I can't even decrypt those. Who used what and the line about what? If you don't complete sentences how is anyone going to ever understand what you are truing to say.
