How To Convert Your itunes Library To Your Winamp Library

I have a problem. I want to reformat my computer, but first I want to make sure by doing this I don't erase all the songs I downloaded and purchased from itunes. I'm thinking if I reformat my computer and then plug my ipod into my itunes program and coppy all my songs on my ipod onto my itunes it should work, right? But then again, the ipod is restricted to only one itunes program so will reformatting my computer not allow me to transfer my songs from my ipod back onto my itunes because it will not recognize the ipod. Are the purchases somehow linked to your itunes account?

Now if I somehow get all that sorted out, are songs you purchased through itunes unable to be played through winamp, or is it something simple I need to change? How do I transfer these songs from my itunes library to my winamp library. Thank you so much for any help.
