[yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (100) ????

<06/26/07@10:53:36> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)
<06/26/07@10:53:36> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (100)

Thats the error that I've been getting for the last week. Every now and then yp.shoutcast.com is touched, but then a minute or two later it gives me that nak 100 error.

What is going on? Its keeping me from staying the the yp listings.

I searched all over the forum and couldn't find an answer. Thanks.

where have you been! look at www.shoutcast.com

the YP is down in protest to the internet radio equality act.

~ According to the ship's log we're down to our last 3000 vomit bags. It'll never be enough.
search the forums! don't PM me on how-to, or ask me to setup you system. you do it so you learn.

No, its not down, the just have a temp front page up, you can still get to it, and I was getting this error BEFORE they changed the front page.

nak 100 errors come and go,

Same problem

I too have been having the same problem for 3 weeks getting Nak error 100 like crazy. There must be a lot more people getting this error. I just don't understand how some people are getting this error and others are not. It would seem this would be a problem covering the entire shoutcast community. From my readings of past posts on this issue the root of the problem has never been determined. It is quite frustrating!!!

Best of LucK!

i can assure you those of us that have been here a while have seen this many times over.

it is a yperrorthat youcan do little about,

some say change your portbut that doesnot stop it happening again.

it may be quite frustrating but it is a free listing in a free directory so the best you can do is wait it out.

it will get fixed eventually.

I hope it gets fixed soon. I pay for my shoutcast hosting, and was hoping on being listed in the directory. I know its a free service, but does anyone actively watch over it at AOL?

looks like my space bar gave up on me...

/digs out a new keyboard

anyway.

no one actively looks after it and waits for it to go wrong and the mods are normally made aware as soon as it starts happening so they can get a messege back to the sysops.

as you say its a free service and is to be treated as such.

dont rely on the yp.

you will be listed eventually.

as mentioned a port change can resolve it BUT will not stop it from happening again tommorow.

its not just you its a good percentage on the other near 20,000 servers listed on the yp

You'll have to be very patient this time, because since the beginning of this year, NAK 100 errors are happening every few hours every day...

I wouldn't quite say it was that harsh.

The yp is quite sporadic with its errors and they do come and go but they are not here as often as every few hours every day this year..

or if it is then it has not been reported as im sure it would have been looked at and fixed.

Well, my stream is not in the listing more often than not. I start the stream, yp says it adds it, second touch is maybe ok, then there is NAK 100, so the stream won't even appear in the list, then the next touch is ok again, sometimes there is one or two days when it works fine but then the nak error is back and another one day without beeing listed, etc. I have also tried to stream from different IPs and servers but it didn't help.
However I have been emailing with a guy from the shoutcast-issues mailing list and he said they know about nak errors and will eventually fix it, but they don't have enough people so it might take a while.

it means you get dropped out of the listing very often and thus you have less viewers.
for example now it works fine for about 1 day and a half or so...

I see the (nak) error after several [yp-tch] (100) messages fail.

The (nak) always means that my internet connection has gone south, or my router is locked up -- after the situation is corrected, there will be one (100) message -- meaning that I now have reported a new IP, then everything will be ok.

Monitor what is happening with the internet connection (the router) that your DNAS uses, you may have intermittent connectivity issues or a router that's not configured properly to stay online full-time.

You may not know this but most routers have several WAN connection modes (on demand, keepalive, etc..) that determine how the router responds to inactivity on the internet side.

no dude, I am not streaming it from home :-) and as I have said, AOL guys admit there are some issues and will take care of it at some point, hopefully.

this does not belong here
it's not NAK 100 error
this means you're having problems with visibility of your stream over the internet

This is something different -- a router without Port Forwarding configured most likely, and...

This IP -- 76.112.156.25 -- is definitely a residential broadband IP [ComCast].

Well, it looks to me like I am the only one having problems with NAK 100 errors recently. I would like to finally solve the issue so if anyone has any suggestion, please let me know. It happens once in every few YP touches on each one of my 3 servers and after almost a year of these problems, I am out of ideas. It happens when I stream NSV video, it happens when I only stream audio, it happens even with default config file... There is no firewall on these servers and all of them have public IP address and are visible from the internet.

the log file looks like this:
<10/15/08@19:59:36> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched!
<10/15/08@20:02:37> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)
<10/15/08@20:02:37> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (100)
<10/15/08@20:07:37> [dest: 207.200.98.1] starting stream (UID: 2)[L: 1]{A: SHOUTcast Directory Tester}(P: 0)
<10/15/08@20:07:48> [dest: 207.200.98.1] connection closed (0 seconds) (UID: 2)[L: 0]{Bytes: 396308}(P: 0)
<10/15/08@20:07:48> [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com added me successfully
<10/15/08@20:10:48> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched!
<10/15/08@20:13:48> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched!
<10/15/08@20:16:49> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched!
<10/15/08@20:19:50> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com touched!
<10/15/08@20:22:50> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)
<10/15/08@20:22:50> [yp_tch] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (100)

Any idea of what can be wrong? I really don't know...

Thanks for extremely quick responses :-)
Well, this happens to me since the beginning of this year, sometimes there is a few days window when it looks like it works (no nak 100 errors) but then it happens again. Recently I am experiencing this almost constantly every few yp touch like in the log file I pasted above. It's pretty strange, because it happens to 3 different servers with different IPs (actually, on 4, I tried it on another one today, which is located in Europe, with the same result)
