War Machine

I've managed to get a bunch of cool effects out of this code, but only one actual preset that I'm happy with. Hopefully, you'll like it enough to play with it.

Oh, and if you remove the rot= line in per_pixel, all the circles will spin the same direction - you end up with a cool swirly effect between the circles.

EDIT: Uploaded a new version - change the direction of rotation every couple of beats.

Very sweet Krash. I esp like the last two.

You may not post all that much but most of it is spot on.

I might have to have ago at a mod now.

Been looking at these esp Indecsive Mosiac for the past half an hour or so. Lovely stuff. I will have my work cut out getting a better mod of one of these.

But............I am suprised you left these rot lines in mosaic. tut, tut. You know unnecessary per_pixel stuff slows it down loads.
That is the only floor I can find.

Anyway folks just make rot to 0.1 in the per_frame and remove those 2 rot lines in the per_pixel to gain many useful fps.

oops. my bad.
I set that to see what it looked like without the opposing spin - and forgot to remove the code.

I've fixed the problem and reposted the preset in the above post.

Wow, nice mods, Rova - did you mean to have the zoom effect follow the wave, or have it separated, like it is? 'Cause the values for y in per-pixel go in the opposite direction to the values for wave_y - go figure.

Idiot - that laser beam mod is really nice. good one.

EDIT: I see that you did mean for the zoom effect to be separate.
Oh, and Cerebral Demons is just awesome. Great to watch.

Yes an intended effect with the custom zoom.

I am pretty pleased myself with the Cerebral Demons one. A little disappointed that the gamma had to be 3 to get a decent brightness. If it is too slow for you reduce the gamma to 2.

I have just seen these in 16-bit and these do not look right at all. Sorry folks but MD really is not designed for 16-bit.

Some top stuff in this thread will have to make sure some is included with 1.03 final.

w0rd.

cerebral demons looks okay, but war machine and indecisive mosaic look like a big smear of pink and white ass. Not pretty.

Illusion... surely you can afford 100 bucks for a TNT M64? or 150 for a GeForce (1) Ultra? (Prices from www.auspcmarket.com.au). There are even cheaper video cards there, but I'd be surprised if they could run milkdrop at all...

Yeah, I can afford it, but I just want to hold off, considering the rest of my PC. I may be able to get a cheap old PCI card off a friend, and if it can handle 32-bit, that may be all I need, my framerates aren't that bad really

So when I get my new PC, it will be the most l33t computer in MD history, and will put even Zylot's new PC to shame

Cerebral demons looks nice with the gamma down in 16-bit, I think I can see some mods coming there, it's a nice effect....

Bite me

What are you gonna do with your old one? You could send it by the Newcastle-Adelaide Kangaroo Express to your pal Illusion, perhaps?

BTW, Krash, obviously your continual gloating over your awesome PC has meant you have forgotten to check your PMs I left one for you ages ago, and you still haven't replied. Now get to it!

PM, Schmee-em. And what do you mean, ages - it's only been there three days.
My old puter is likely to stick around as a print/file/internet/game server, and be used at LANs for people whose computers are either crappy, broken, or busy.

You're welcome to trek up here and join me and my pals for a LAn sometime though =P

I was only kidding Krash, it felt more like 3 weeks though

I'm sure you'll still be able to use your old PC for most games, my friend has a Duron 900 with a GeForce2MX and that still runs most new games pretty well....

Idiot24-7, TNT2 for US$30 is pretty good, even though it's not really a very new card. It's only a PCI card though, right?

Maybe we should get back to the topic now

Yeah, this beast still runs every game very acceptably. I'm gonna be upgrading for Doom3 though... that's gonna be a big one.
