Just released 3.3.6, a minor update.

Just released 3.4.0, which makes it much more easy to switch between multiple Winamp installs for backup and restoration mode.

I have removed the ability to change the winamp config path in path page of restoration mode:



Reasons:

- less advanced users never should change this path
- it only provided the ability to change the Winamp config folder but not the Winamp install folder
- it only worked in restoration mode
- the functionallity is now present in the new winamp dir page

On the other hand I have added a new Winamp directory settings page for advanced users:



- provides a simple way to switch between different Winamp installs
- provides the ability to to change the the Winamp install directory for backup and restore mode
- provides the ability to change the Winamp configuration directory for backup and restore mode

That design should make it much more easy for people to switch between multiple installs and is much more flexible.

Winamp Backup Tool 3.4.1 is now available, this adds a Czech (thanks Miroslav Rabušic) and a Japanese language file (thanks T-Matsuo) and fixes some minor bugs/glitches.

Just released 3.4.2, it fixes a minor bug report I got, adds a back to top link on bottom of reports and changes the title text on first page from 'General setting' to 'Task selection' mainly.

The new English language example file is 3.0a. This was the last language related update now.

Winamp Backup Tool v3.4.3 is now available.

This will write UTF-8 log files instead of UTF-16LE files. So the files are now half sized only and will validate on w3.org.

This mainly fixes the behavior of the Winamp install dir 'Default' button in Winamp path page and adds a PortugueseBR v3.0a language file (thanks to Anderson Silva)

Just released 3.4.5 to fix some bugs with Winamp detection, big thanks to Paweł Porwisz for reporting these bugs.

Just released 3.5.0, the log files have a more modern design and are more easy to read on mobile systems.

Additionally I had to change the file name sheme a bit:

- [Log File] changed the file extension of backup log files from '*.html' to '*.winampbackup.html'*
- [Log File] changed the file extension of restoration log files from '*.html' to '*.winamprestore.html'*
- changed the file extension of backup files from *.zip/*.7z to winampbackup.zip/winampbackup.7z*

The reason for this is simple, I made 2 mistakes in the past:

1. I allowed custom backup paths
2. I allowed localization of the file names

The main issue is that a user can save the backup archive on the root of an USB stick and if he then uses the delete all report files button it will delete all *winamp*.zip/7z files. deleting *winampbackup.zip is more secure.

Another issue was, that if you run BT in another language and then in English again, the English version won't delete e.g. PortugueseBR ceated log files.

This is all fixed now, the only downside is, that the manage page does not see your old backup and log files.

Note to translators I have updated the English language file, but there is no need to update your language files. I have mainly removed useless strings and fixed some typos.

Thank you for continuing to make your Backup Tool more robust.

I've lost track of how much time I've saved using this tool to restore Winamp, after experimenting with 3rd party stuff that broke it. I have learned the hard way to always make a full backup before trying anything new.

[Log File] fixed that paths for status failed haven't used Windows environment path variables

Saves the the work to release a newer build for these minor changes, hehe

FYI, went to download the latest version and noticed some CSS issues on the site:



Might try changing the widths of those floating boxes from 47% to 45% or something. It appears this way in both Firefox, Chrome, and IE11.

Just released 3.5.1 a minor update which improves the HTML/CSS code and design.

3.5.2 is available this update removes the 'Task' columns mainly to save disk and screen space.

Just a quick note, as of Winamp Backup Tool v3.5.3 and newer WindowsXP/Vista isn't supported anymore, I cannot test against these operating systems and add workarounds for Unicode chars etc. Winamp Backup Tool 3.5.3+ will require Windows 7 or newer.

Just released v.3.6.0 which adds a portable mode, something which was requested several times in the past. This was a lot of work.

Hi, I was wandering if this tool can backup all types of files including .flv and other videos extensions or just mp3 audio files?

As far as I am aware it only backs up the Winamp configuration files, settings, skins etc.
It does not back up audio files etc.
