plugin to play a megadrive rom's musics ?

I am looking for a plug-in that enables Winamp to open a Sega Megadrive rom and play the game's musics.

Does it exist ?

it won't play from the rom directly but i think just about all games are covered on the first site (though it's relatively easy to make your own set, heh)

The quality of .gym files is a little bit better.

The vgm format is meant for Sega Master System soundtracks. The Genesis/Mega Drive .vgm files don't reach the quality of gym files.

i keep forgetting about gym files what with the confusion over megadrive/genesis naming (why they had to use different names in different regions was just silly, heh)

both options should give a good compliment of what's needed though it's not direct playback from the rom's but that's just a lot more complicated to do and not really worth it hence the gym and vgm style formats which contain just what's needed to have the audio (or however they're logged since it gets more confusing for other formats like usf where you've got proper rom code in there and the interpreter to simulate enough of the n64 so it'll play - emulation audio is fun )

Wow. First time ever that I hear someone saying GYM is better than VGM (no offense, but what nonsense). There are still some grumpy ol' geezers around after all!

For the record: Maxim didn't develop VGM specifically for the Master System. It was called VGM because it was meant as a multi-platform format right from the start.

Oh yeah: GYM doesn't support PCM at all. So there :)

This is my point of view, I made listening tests with several Mega Drive soundtacks, eg. Sonic as .gym and .vgm and I, and I speak for myself, think that gym sounds better.

Maybe placebo, lord knows, but I prefer gym files. heh.
