cannot find decoder error when converting midi to wav
When I try to convert my midi files to any other format it says cannot find decoder. When trying to convert to mp3 it says must have winamp pro. I would purchase pro version but I am afraid it still would not work since the other formats do not work.

Hi all,
I get the same error when trying to convert midi files to wav. Has anybody been able to get this to work? MIDI files have no music, they are like score sheets. Therefore MIDIs are incompatible with the format converter. To convert MIDIs to WAVs see the following post...

"cannot find decoder error when converting midi to wav"
Maybe I'm pedantic, but you might want to be more careful with your grammar. I read that and thought "so then whats the problem?" |

@tinjara
You are welcome! ![]() @Paul_Bags Are you telling lazyjboy or Winamp to be more careful with grammar? That is how the error message reads. BTW, lazyjboy posted over a year ago. |

...Then not winamp. "cannot find decoder, error when converting midi to wav" or "Error: 'cannot find decoder' when converting midi to wav" or etc.
But not being able to find the decoder error itself doesn't seem to me to be the problem. ![]() |

It was "cannot find decoder" (no space in "can not") that I thought you were talking about. As the grammatical difference between "cannot" and "can not" is sometimes debated. But, maybe I am to one who is being too pedantic now.
![]() Anyways, regardless of grammar "cannot find decoder" can be confusing for users. |

Nah, I can live with spelling errors, it's structural logic that trips me up
![]() I would say we should get back on topic now, but you've already answered the question, so...? |
