Can winamp automatically get the song names from the internet?
When you put an audio CD in Winamp is there any way of getting it to auomatically find the names of the songs and the artist on that CD? It doesnt seem to do it straight after loading, it just goes from "track01.cda" or similar to "CD Track 01".
Thanks for any help! |

CTRL+P>preferences>setup> make sure you have an internet connection set in the section marked "Internet settings"

What version of Winamp are you using?
eg. latest version = 2.80a Full | Standard | or Lite installation? Any error messages? eg. "cddb not installed" Are you using the default cd plugin (in_cdda.dll) or have you installed the 3rd-party CDReader plugin? Are you using a proxy connection or behind a firewall? Did you close & reopen Winamp after checkmarking "use cddb"? |

The 'lite' version of Winamp 2.80 includes CD support, however without CDDB functionality in order to keep file size at a minimum.
Try downloading the standard or full version (which include CDDB support). Insert a CD and see if the titles are downloaded now, making sure of course, that you follow all the instructions above regarding checking "use CDDB", etc. also, make sure that you are using a mainstream CD - audio CD's that you have created yourself won't have an entry in the CDDB database, so no information will be downloaded. If all else fails, download and install the CD Reader plugin, naking sure to first disable the default CD plugin, as explained in the CD Reader readme.txt file. See if you get any joy from that instead. Like my photography? Buy some here.... |
