What is WACUP

Hi -

I recently posted a problem I had and was advised to check out WACUP. I looked into this and am a bit confused. The site describes a plug-in for Winamp. I tried it and it installed the Winamp player. It worked ok but was unable to to seamlessly use my original settings and mods. Maybe I did something wrong.

Anyways, I post this to ask this community if there is thread here that is focused on this and to please direct me to it so I can get a clear understanding of why/what exactly this is and hopefully an 'official' Winamp position on this.

-thank you

DrO used to develop Winamp. Now he is doing a clone of it on his own. The WACUP site u linked to explains all this. What exactly isn't clear?

of course. It was just that when I see the name Sinatra I immediately associate it with crude, racist and vulgar humor, which is not humor at all. No offense to you, but ol' blue eyes did have most awesome pipes in any case.

Does anyone have this currently installed? I downloaded then extracted it and noticed that it was missing the in_dshow.dll plugin. Why would that be left out? I suppose you could probably copy in the version from 5.666 and it would work but that plugin is a must for me since it's needed for ffdshow codecs.

Thanks for the link. I have yet to install this to see if copying in "in_dshow.dll" will actually work. If he completely removed the ability to use ffdshow and relies only on built-in codecs then it's basically unusable for me.

I have just looked inside WACUP's Plugins directory and in_dshow.dll is there. This is how WACUP is installed: the installer first downloads and installs Winamp 5.666 into the Wacup directory and then replaces some files.

Yes - check it out. I followed the advice given here and other posts here. WACUP seems to be the road that hard-core/die-hard winamp users will travel.

tl:dr I just want a comparison of the differences with new winamp 5.8 and Wacup? More importantly does cPro still work with Wacup?

ever since moving to Win10 (I hate it) and installing the new Winamp 5.8 it seems while some plugins etc work.. the best ones ie cPro and its seems and extra cPro extensions won't work due to some error...

Can anyone confirm Wacup works with cPro and I can still import my ml library to it?

My signature was just too damn good to be seen here..
