Help on Skins - Please

Hi,

I'm having trouble changing skins, every change I try just reverts to Winamp Classic.

I've recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium, with all upgrades/updates in place.

I'm running Winamp 5.61 registered version, recently re-installed to try to fix this problem.

I'm trying to use either the MMD3 skin or the D-Reliction skin, but with no success at all!
I'm looking for a skin that has the 'Media Library' mouse 'clickable' rather than hitting Alt+L.

Note: When I re-installed Winamp, these skins would not even preview.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Chris

I should add that the following skins do work.

Winamp5_Classified_V5.5
Winamp_Perfect_Version_2
Bento_Classified

But none of the others that I have downloaded will work.

Are there any Winamp pre-requisites that I have failed to install following my upgarde to Windows 7 ?

Thanks
Chris

sounds like you've either run the 'lite' installer or you've not enabled modern skin support as those skins are 'classic' skins (i.e. based on the 2.x style of skinning rather than the Winamp3 style of skins which 'modern' ones are classified as).

Thank you for that advice!

'About Winamp' shows v5.61 (x86) - Mar 22 2011, downloaded and installed today.
File name: winamp561_pro_en-us.exe

If I were to uninstall and re-install, am I going to lose all my playlists?
That is a frightening prospect, how can I retain my Media Library settings?

Thanks again,
Chris

you don't need to uninstall things, just re-run and make sure that modern skin support in ui extensions (i think) is checked.

Thanks daz, but that didn't work I'm afraid!
It asks me if I want the Toolbar etc. etc. but when I get to the 4 steps following installation, the first of which is about which skin I want, there is no option to enable modern skins, and the skin I want, MMD3, when selected, does not present in the preview screen, and reverts to the classic skin.
Cheers
Chris

Ignore that! I found it by expanding every option, you're right, it's under the UI settings!
Sorry!
Thanks for your time and patience!

yay, glad to hear it's sorted now. normally that is all checked by default unless you managed to change the install type at the top and the installer will generally remember the last things it installed so future upgrades of the same install should keep the modern skin support there.
