[FBI]_Inque187, I think to make it work, you download it and put in your plugins dir and then go to preferences -> plug-ins -> media library -> ml_www. Enable it and it should work automatically without much tweaking. Try typing in your internet IP or computer IP into your browser and see if it works.

What I'm wondering about is how the Character Encoding and language parts work. I put in Big5 (for chinese songs) since chinese characters don't show up correctly. However, it doesn't seem to do anything. Is it because the media library doesn't support unicode, or something else? Any help is appreciated.

Does anyone have ml_www working with Winamp v5.61?

Winamp or VLC is not able to connect to the files in the m3u lists... anyone have this problem?

E.g. file:

http://guest:guest@localhost:8081/fe...e%20Corner.mp3

Connection fails

Yes, I can't seem to get it working again. I figured it was something with my connection or setup, or Windows 7, but now that you mention it, it might be with 5.61. I came to this thread yesterday, and figured it was dead and I was on my own, but yes, "Connection fails" is what I get.

When I upgraded from Winamp v5.5 to v5.6 my media library did an update (to re-index the tracks?). Maybe this has something to do with it as the "fetch?idx=0_3733071026" in the URL may have changed, but then again it should be pulling that from the media library anyway.

my ML did that one time update thing too. i don't know exactly what all it did, but i suspected that it was converting vorbis ratings from 0-5 to 0-100.

You updated from 5.5 to 5.6?

Can you confirm your ml_www is not working?

Winamp has been doing database re-indexes for a number of versions now as issues have been found in the db (like it not removing some dead / duplicated entries correctly) or to ensure the format is correct.

i've not tried ml_www with the newer Winamp though i can't remember how it worked out 'fetch?idx=0_3733071026' or anything else (though one direct index value was removed the db support a few years ago which may be related if people are upgrading from versions of Winamp from 2007 and earlier) but it could just be the plug-in is 4 years old and needs to be re-compiled / updated to work with the newer db format.

but without anyone coding / supporting the plug-in there's not much luck unless someone picks up the project to work out what is causing the failure.

I've been using AjaxAMP: http://ajaxamp.com/ for a while now to play my music over the net. It works with the latest version of Winamp.

Interesting, going to try this out. Getting an 404 page not found on his download page. Here is the 3.1 version: http://www.winamp.com/plugin/ajaxamp-3-1/171286

anyone have link to 3.3 version?

Wow.. none of the links work there now. They all seem to throw a 404 error. Anyway, I uploaded the 3.3 installer I have:

http://www.markheadrick.com/download...tallerv3.3.exe

Doing some googling, looks like you can get here as well: (link removed due to installer being different size than what I have).

Thanks for the upload. Take the http://english.ircfast.com/ link down. I saw that one too, its file size is much bigger than it should be so it might contain malware.

Mark, AjaxAMP seems only like a remote control for Winamp. It doesn't actually play the music remotely. How do you play music over the net?

If you're using the default config, to test out locally, browse to http://localhost:5151/library so that it loads the music library of the system and not the remote control interface. When I'm at my parents, I'll browse to http://home:5151/library where "home" is the Internet IP address of my system here.

You then click the blue-arrow play button on the left to stream whatever it's next to, be it a song, a folder of songs, or the entire music library.

Hope that helps,

Ohhh woah that is weird as hell. So the remote control UI is at: http://localhost:5151/ and the streaming UI is here: http://localhost:5151/library. You would think it would be in one UI as its almost identical. Too bad it won't let you control permissions of streaming vs. remote control like www_ml can. I wanted to share this with my friends.

I was able to configure it to where it asks for a username and password in order to access the library by going into the security options and check-marking to require authentication and supplying a username and password.

I don't share it with anybody so I only need the one username/password. I've tried other things and this one suits my needs good enough. One thing you might look at is Vibestreamer: http://www.vibestreamer.com/ but if I remember correctly, it was a separate program that didn't work with Winamp on the client end but used it's own Flash based player.
