WiNAMP 5

Winamp5 looks great while tested but i see a lot of people asking for the crossfade to work like in Winamp3 and as wel when you press alt-key together with the left mouse you could queue in a playlist the next file to be played with crossfading when you press next.
So saying that Winamp5 is based on winamp2 and not on winamp3 everybody understands but i hope that the develloppers keep in mind the great demand of those features, meanwhile i stay with winamp3 because this masterpiece is still my favourite mp3 player.
Great work, i'll be the first to reinstall winamp5 with the best MMD3skin ever when those feauters work in winamp5, till then winamp3 rules... sorry guys. But anyway, congratulations with the new player, i use it every day, it's the best computersoftware on earth and it's for free, thnx guys !!!
Regards Mauro from Belgium ;-)

yay a winamp3 fan!

as for your requests for winamp5, the 'alt+click' option will be available eventually at least via a plugin i'm working on that will replace the existing playlist (is early in it's development at the moment).

Thnx DrO, i'll wait for you're plugin...
Hopefully the crossfading will be adjusted like in winamp3 as well, i liked the fader working in the equalizer of the MMD3skin and not while adjusting with trial and error in the direct sound menu because a lot of other fading like with start-stop comes up without asking, even the fading while using the direct sound menu does not allow to adjust the fading anymore with the equalizer menu in the MMD3skin, you can still adjust the seconds with the slider but it won't change in length anymore. I like it simple and efficient like it was in winamp3, don't like to reconfiger every time in direct sound menu.
Regards from Belgium.

crossfader winamp5

I understand, i took some time to read all that about the crossfader in winamp5.
I think that i'm not very technical to adjust all the buffer lenghts and enable fade on start in that way so it sounds like a good crossfade like in winamp3 where a simple slider in the MMD3skin was very easy and handy for a home user. Indeed a home user does not need a real professional DJ mixing tool but what winamp3 offered as a fading was not a complex or professional mixing tool but a simple, easy to use slider in the skin which allowd fade on start/end and auto adjust buffer lengts in the direct sound output config, a lot of people (read homeusers)will miss that feature, therefor they used winamp3. And indeed for more complex fading it's better to use a plugin but i'm a simple homeuser who does not like to do all the configuring and that's why i'll stay with a simple and efficient winamp3 program untill winamp5 has the same features, but i am not really sure if that's the meaning of winamp5 or is it ??
My basic English allows me only to understand that everywhere they like to say that winamp5 will be more based on winamp2 and so the fading will not be like a lot of homeusers and old winamp3 users would like it and are already used to work with?? Or is my basic english wrong? i hope so?
Again kind regards from Belgium,
Mauro (winamp3, hopefully winamp5 addicted in the future...)

@those discussing my sig:

There is no pain like that of desire.
Is threre any difference between women and fire? One burns the spirit, the other the flesh! Is sex worth the price of certain death?

...Some lyrics from Type o Negative.
Both statements are not affiliated to each other in any way, except by mentioning the word pain and beeing decomposed by Lord Petrus Steele, chief prophet of Type O Negative.

EDIT to be constructive:
The crossfader in winamp 5 might be even simpler than that in Winamp3, at least featurewise. It will be handled by a button and a slider too, but currently lacks the feature to fade into a song. the next song will be started immediately at full volume while the previous fades out.

hi all,

and thanks for nullsoft for this gr8 player - even it is still on beta stage =) it runs fine and i will be purchasing it as soon it will be released.

but there is a very annoying bug, i do not know if anyone wrote this earlier..

when ripping cd's to aac with 128 bitrate, sometimes songs seems to 'lost sync'. this happens if i put more work on my cpu (xp3200) and can be heard when listening just ripped song.

sometimes when seekin .aac song with that seekbar bitrate shows some sort of movement 127-128 and slidebar moves back and forward a little bit, while listening song or when playing with slidebar.

i do not know if this is the right place to tell this.

Oh that explains why it makes no sense, it's Type O Negative! ahhhaah
For those of you who don't know what Type O Negative is, you're better off than those who, unfortunately, do!

That's mean

For your information, the girls with the Type O shirts at my high school were the hottest females in attendance. If they represent the general listenership of Type O fans, then I'm all about Type O Negative

I was away for a while.
But I'm feeling much better now.

hopefully. nothing against Brennan or Winamp3, but the sooner they get Winamp3 off the main page the better (for nullsoft)!

true, but I think that the page should've been altered by now, at least telling all of the people who don't use the forums that there is a new version coming out, Winamp 5 would've get better sales once released if they had put ads or at least some mention of it on the main page. sadly a lot of people have probably declared Winamp to suck because of what they didn't like about WA3 b488, and they'll now stick with iTunes or something ghey.

edit: i guess that being owned by AOL slows everything down, and makes any new announcements or website changes to be sent through a bunch of confused AOL people?
