i wouldn't expect a "final" of Extended Playlist for a good few months
need to get JTFE finished first so that i know how i can integrate the code into this one (one of the biggies on the todo list). when that's feature complete (for the time being) then this one will get all of the love that it needs and more advanced builds will appear.

as WHEREamI said, "there's a lot of functionality to be duplicated" and the real big one is getting tight integration into winamp which isn't of things at times (message hacking, etc). i want this as much as everyone else since the sidecar was something i loved from the start.

@Smar969905: the current build is a bit more reliable than mickeysoft (even at this stage) and i'm plugin the cable in now

@ctkatz8086: did you install any of the earlier previews since preview 3 will use the settings from the existing builds and in preview 2 there was an issue with the font initialisation which did what you have described.

by mickeysoft's products, i meant my whole OS...XP sometimes stands for Xtra Problems. Windows is like a ford but cheaper. Fords are there to constantly demand attention, and suck your wallet and bank account dry...

I may try the plugin after all...if i can find enuf time between homeworks now...stupid college work takes up too much time

Smar969905: knew what you meant, missed a word out i think. the main aim of the past releases has been to get stability improved (which has happened).

Hey, here's an idea - custom title formatting for the "tooltip"! Just hover your mouse over the song in the playlist and you can get album information, filenames, or anything else in the advanced formatting settings. Any chance that that's possible? That alone would make using the plugin, even at this stage, worth while.

I'm all for making JTFE do the queueing under XPL, by the way. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. It would also give people the option to have the sidecar without the queueing function (if that's what they really want). It would also make it so that you wouldn't have to release a new version of both plugins to add functionality or fix bugs in the overlapping code. I would simply bundle JTFE with XPL and have people choose during the installation (I can't imaging that would be very hard in NSIS). Anyways, just my opinion.

I really like this idea! optional of course. and have it show just below the playlist entry. dunno if this is possible, given the API... hmm.. i might consider this for wasabi.player's PlEdit.wac.

New to this forum just upgraded from Winamp 2.80 to version 5. Long time but never comfortable with winamp 3.
Very impressed by Dr Os work & dedication, I've got a couple of problems which I'll post below.

All I'm looking for is a Search facility from within playlists? Am I missing something for what seems an easy feature.
I do discos & karaoke. All normal music files (around 2,000) are kept within one folder on my hard drive & all my karaoke files are kept on another.

So I add the music files under Local Media & I create a karaoke playlist & chuck the karaoke songs into that. But as I say I can't search them? This is so annoying that I can't use the program.

Please someone tell me I'm missing something simple here???

yup! try the J key! and you'll want DrO's own Jump To File Extra (JTFE) plugin too (see his sig).

The J key will only open up the files that are within the Playlist Editor.
I have tried the Jump To File Extra & when I enque a track it isn't doing it.
I want to be able to search from within the Media Library from my own playlist heading???

Any other ideas? I really don't understand why search has been left off playlists.

P.S. As I understand one of the Jump To File plug ins you need to know the track number, not a lot of good for me.

This is true. There is no search function in your loaded / ripped playlists. Why don't you simply load the playlist into the Playlist Editor and use JTFE from there? It only operates on the playlist anyways (by jumping to a place in the playlist).

Nah, we want you. Trust me.

It's a preview. Lots of bugs are to be expected. They'll get ironed out when DrO works on it. 'always do.

bugs!
bugs!
bugs!

1.the color editor is duplicated in the menu. as is the plugin (but you know this)
2.i dont really know why the song is listed on the right side there, maybe not a bug.
3.i select a song, and the text turns dark because it is selected. then i select another song and it turns dark because it is selected. but the olast song is still appearing as playing (in the playlist), when it is not. then when i hilite the old songs that were dark texted, they are fine. (hope that makes sense)
EDIT: also, the display is pretty messed up when trying to use the color editor.it shows the outline of it, but the contents of the plugin. and i can select songs, and it is weird (i could post a screenshot if you want)

@psycho_maniac: that's down to the way that skinned windows are handled in modern skins where the title of the window is added to the menu when it is shown (something i'm aware of and think it's an easy one to fix )

@Weirdal: the first one is related to psycho_maniac's one.

the second one isn't a bug, it's a valid feature. just select a few files in the playlist and see what happens

the third one i know of, that just needs a few more checks put into place to get it sorted out it's a random one at the moment but can be easily fixed with a few internal checks

can you post a screenshot you mentioned in the edit, thanks

so, must be a one time only random glitch.

i haven't tested with the colour editor so i'll have a try it to see what's going on (maybe there is a problem somewhere just in case)

got a few things on JTFE to do so this may not be getting much work for a bit but features like language support going into JTFE will make it into this one as well + lots of fun things

the next preview will be to check that the file search code isn't going to kill machines and all that plus it'll let me see if i've fixed those earlier bugs and all that.

hopefully there will be something by the end of the month along with everything else that i'm doing still not complete but getting closer to being functional - need more functionality really for checking the explorer playlist code out
