ml_www = hotness , one feature request i'd like to make is a refresh remote control pane button, because if you know youre the only one controlling, you dont need it to refresh at a given rate

wow... this thread has all but died

@asha'man:
it doesn't matter what directory it is in. just as long as the music is in the ML there won't be an issue. when you are searching in the web browser, what are you doing? are any of the artists showing up initially or what?

When you take a hand and chop the fingers off... what do u get?

That would be the knub.

ok i got that issue resolved but there are some other things im curious to see if they are available.

1. can u set limits on songs that are qued by ip address to the site and/or logins. ie say someone comes to the site i want them to be able to que 3 songs with a total of 20 songs for the general public.

2. also with the logins its either have a login or no login at all. im wondering if all general users can get to the page without a login prompt but have an 'admin' page u can login to. ie. http://my.ip.org:port - for general users; but http://my.ip.org:port/admin - for admin users.

Unfortunately you cant do either 1 or 2 at the moment.

Can you add them as feature requests on sourceforge ? (looks like you've added number 1)

Re a new version, I've got to the point of having the new code work the same as the previous version ( ) and fixed a couple of bugs but there doesn't seem much point in releasing again until there's some new features

I'm working on several of the feature requests but not exactly sure what I'll get done

if u release what you got, i'm sure even the minor improvements are appreciated. as far as help, if you ask they will help

You may be better off with wombatshare (see the link below). However to use ml_www to do this just point your browser on computer 2 to the ip address of computer 1... tadah

edit: Incidentally just spotted you as a user on the wombatshare forums, since you last posted WOmbatShare has been majorly improved and can now easily share across the internet.

i am using wombatshare. it works great
the reason i'm exploring ml_www is because out of curiousity and to see if ml_www as some better download features, because that's what wombatshare is lacking [in my opinion]. So i can easily go through my brothers mp3's and download the songs.

offcourse i could walk to my brothers computer and share the mp3 database, but it would be cool if you could do it all in winamp.

WombatShare's open-source you can always add the code <g>...There is a fella intending to do that, but I want to put some more security in yet before I 'officially' allow it <g>

To see/download/stream the mp3's using ml_www you need to:

1 - install the plugin on computer 1.
2 - Build your media library (eg: point it at some directories that contain mp3s/ogg/whatever and get it to scan them)
3 - (optionally) setup ml_www - it'll work straight out of the box but you may wish to configure passwords or whatever.
4 - while winamp is running on computer 1, open a web browser on computer 2, type in the IP address of computer 1 in the address bar and push enter (or Go etc)

You should see a page listing all the artists in the media library on computer 1 and also some search fields. You can either search for songs or just browse by clicking on an artist name.

Once you find the song you want, you can stream it by clicking the downwards arrow with a squiggle in it, or download it by clicking the straight downwards arrow.

ml_www 0.5.0 beta

Hi Guys,

Been a while between updates but the new version is now finished (or at least i've drawn a virtual line in the sand ).

The new version is available here

Changes:
- Completely different under the covers, same on top =) Rewrote most of
the non-html output sections using full c++ and broke source into
individual files based on class. It should be much easier to maintain
with multiple developers in CVS now and it's easier to quickly find the
location you want.

Fixed bugs:
- 944996 Max Query Result isn't a sticky setting
The max query result is now remembered properly
- 942725 Attempting to display track lengths crashes
Yet another attempt at a fix for this one =/ seems fine to me now...
- 941777 Downloaded filenames are corrupted under mozilla
Filenames should now work properly under mozilla

Partially fixed bugs:
- 942005 Album link query should not contain artist name
Query now only searches for the album however the results are still
shown seperated into tables per artist - compilations should show up as
a single table. The winamp media library doesn't currently support an
easy way to determine that?

- 941780 Non-english language characters are not displayed correctly
All ASCII characters (0->255) should be handled properly.

Support for setting the encoding in preferences will be added at a
later date

Implemented Feature Requests:
- 963284 New Preferences Dialog
New preferences window. It's now divided into tabs for each section.
Looks kinda sparse at the moment but i'm sure there's enough new options
that can be added to fill it up =).

- 954302 Add refresh remote control pane button
There is a new option "show refresh button" to show a refresh link on
the playlist. The "refresh delay" preference has also been changed so
that '0' means no refresh.

- 941764 Optionally exclude some files.
There are new text fields in the configuration allowing the
administrator to transparently add extra search criteria to every query
that is run. This allows the administrator to block out various
artists/tracks/etc. The format is the same as in view creation in the
media library. The specified query strings are added to queries using
the & operator.

- 941749 Reduce size of html by removing some CSS.
The CSS and HTML have been reworked so as to use less bandwidth. This is
similar to the modification that Unfletch made in version 0.44u however
there are some small diferences (see stylesheets/output for more info).

Both the default and Unfletch's skin are included in the current
release.

Partially implemented feature requests:
- 960372 Log all actions/connections
Basic logging has been implemented as follows:

Log is saved in CSV format - users can use a Spreadsheet to
browse/sort the data.

Currently log entries consist of:
date/time, ip issuing the request, uri that the request was
sent to (eg: host uri), type field, description.

Currently log entries are written:
- when the plugin starts/stops.
- for each connection listing the page that was requested.

Entries will be added shortly for the action that is
performed based on each request.

Cheers,
Chris

Hey, this new workup looks wonderful, but why do I still get "Jane's Addiction" showing up? The & and even é both work fine now, but still no apostrophy.

Problems

Installed then new version last night and now I have some issues.

I can stream an entire artist or album. When I try, I get "The page cannot be found". Streaming individual songs is fine.

Typing a search query and hitting the enter key takes me back to the browse by artist listing. I have to use the mouse to click the Search button.

Anyone else seeing this?

On the .5 beta, I install it to a WinME system using default install options (plugins directory) and when I go to Preferences/Plugins/Media Library to configure it, it isn't there! christophe's .41 and liquidmotion's .41a work from this post http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....2#post1272102, but for some reason .5 doesn't show up as loaded. I verified that it resides in the winampdir/plugins directory as ml_www.dll. Any ideas?

Edit: Strangely enough, http://www.live365.com is 'hijacked' by ml_www .41a to the ml_www view page (with my ml objects (MP3, OGG, etc))...its not my start page, but was at one time. if i clear the ie cache, i get a 404... anyone have any ideas about this or about chris's .5?

monkeyfromx, I have experienced the same, it seems as if searching isn't working? Also, refreshing the artist listing after making a change doesn't seem to work.

A small feature request: logoff? So to login with a different user...

missing MSVCR71.DLL?

Just FYI, you might want to include the MSVCR71.dll in the package. Not everyone has .NET and therefore the VC 7.1 runtime.

If you don't have it, Winamp will throw an error on launch and the wwwinamp plugin will not load.

@ArcCoyote

Sigh, thanks for pointing that out, was scratching my head a bit that so many ppl were having probs . Completely forgot about that, kinda sucks that it still needs that even tho no .NET is used .

Anyway, i've added a new installer to sourceforge which includes the msvcr71.dll.

here

This is kinda a feature (), mlwww caches the list of artists for about 15mins (from memory) so that things run fast.

That was in the original mlwww and i havent changed it yet, i'll put a feature request in sourceforge to make the time out configurable.

You can get around it by restarting winamp (but that's a pain in the butt). You may also be able to get around it by clicking OK in the preferences (that causes the server to reset) but i'm not certain that that will work...

Not sure as to why the searching isn't working, i'll have a closer look tomorrow

sigh again, realised that the new installer would have a spasm if msvcr71.dll was already installed on a user's computer so i added some extra installer code to ignore it...

It's the same file in sourceforge so anyone who downloads the link above now should get the good one...

@arc, @chris, the runtime fixed my loading issue. My http://www.live365.com connection still defaults to the page created by ml_www. Otherwise works great, if I can only get to my IP address . I have it via http://www.whatismyip.com but I get an authentication box with the Realm being 'Prestige 645'. Any ideas who controls this realm? My router user and pass don't work here. Maybe my ISP, and the related username and password? I use Sprint FastAccess DSL, if that helps any. Love to hear back from anyone with ideas. K, thx.

jmat

EDIT: I have since researched the Prestige 645. It is my DSL modem, and would suggest the IP address query bypassed my wireless router and is requesting my ISP logon details.

Because I can't edit my above post, I'll post again...

I looked into the "hijacking" of http://www.live365.com and it's not ml_www.dll that causes it, it was a redirection of that website to http://127.0.0.1 by the HOSTS file and then ml_www, of course, loading its controls into the localhost. Sorry for the false alarm.

Maybe my posts can be merged

I don't know why, but recently the songs I add to the ML are not displayed when viewing the songs from the browser... Any idea what might be causing this?

The bug is in streamrequestprocessor.cpp line 93:

mlQueryStruct qs={0,};

Just comment out that line, and artist and album streams will work. The variable "qs" was already defined earlier in the function StreamRequestProcessor::processRequest, so a local definition was being used by mistake (leaving the correct "qs" unpopulated).

So I would have to modify that line of code, then recompile the dll? I don't think I can do that. Do you have a fixed version available?

re updated version: i've fixed most of these bugs in the latest CVS version:

- Searching (using enter rather than the mouse)
- Streaming groupss of files
- Various CSS things (noticed that unfletch's skin was broken for some reason...)

and added features:

- The delay between database updates is now configurable and you can force mlwww to update from the preferences panel.

I'll try and build another version asap...

XSLT

I've worked up the functional beginnings of XSLT (as well as CSS) support for ml_www. Is anyone interested in this besides me?
I very quickly hit the limits of CSS when trying to customize ml_www. The first XSLT of course will be one to generate the ml_www pages as they are now.
