Unable to use Window Settings > Opacity

hello all mods and users,

I am using win 98 on a Celeron 566 sys. I have recently loaded Winamp 5.05. When I go to the Window settings, only the Scaling options are enabled. The Opacity and Docked Toolbar are greyed out.

Also when Winamp looses focus i.e. when it is running in the background the sound changes. I think that this one is a bug or something.

Please respond soon on these issues of mine.

Thanks
NBN

1. Desktop alpha (allows opacity) is built into Windows XP/2000, therefore opacity is not available for Windows 98. It is a Windows thing and not a Winamp thing.

2. The Winamp Modern default skin should be in WindowShade (AKA toolbar) mode for the Docked Toolbar option.

3. Try the following DirectSound config tweaks...

Hey Jonny Mac,

Thanks for your response on my issue. So I guess I am stuck with the no opacity thing for as long as I am on Win98.

About the Docking thing ... I am at the config tab > Winshade ... there are 3 options. Of these which should I select to enable the Window Docking feature?

thanks

1. To set the main/player to the WindowShade mode. (Ctrl+W or click the middle button in the right section of the title bar or double click the title bar).
2. For a shortcut to the Windows Settings sub-menu, Ctrl+'Right Click' on a "empty space"
3. select Docked Toolbar
4. select Top or Bottom
See attachment: DockBar.jpg

If Top or Bottom, is selected docked toolbar mode will be set each time you engage WindowShade mode.

Note: Docked toolbar is only available to the Winamp Modern default and other modern skins that implement the feature. Not all mod skins have docked toolbar and not all Winamp windows can be docked

If the DirectSound tweaks don't work please better describe “the sound changes” (static?, muted sound?, skipping?) and provide system specs.

I have a bussy day ahead of me so I won't be at the computer until a later time. Otherwise, someone else may step in to help.
