How Do I Know?

How do I know if I am broadcasting? I would like to give my friends the link to my station.

There are numbers next to the output status thing, and does that mean i am broadcasting?
Also, can I put a link to the station on my website?

In case you can't guess, I'm new

First, find out your IP at www.whatismyip.com
Then, take that, and put in in the place of "yourip" in the following address.

http://yourIP:8000/listen.pls

yeah, i'm back.

Your ports (8000 & 8001) are closed due to either your router or firewall or both. until you fix that, no one can listen to your station.

Fixing [yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Cannot see your station/computer (IP: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:xxxx) from the Internet, disable NAT/firewall/ISP cache (Connection timed out)

I am trying to connect to the Shoutcast website, 8000 localhost

The Server Monitor told me I was connected, but cannot access it via internet!

If you have a router, you must port forward, ports 8000 & 8001 to your LAN IP address of the PC that is running shoutcast server.

You cannot go to the shoutcast directory page and connect back to your stream from that page That is for people outside your home network. You are internal and therefore must use the internal LAN IP address of your shoutcast server to listen to it.

if you want listen to your own stream, and you are at home on another computer on your network, you enter into the player (winamp) play url box example only http://192.168.0.3:8000/ you would use the LAN IP address of your shoutcast server.

Tried that, still says page not displayed. Plus Shoutcats keep rejecting me, even though I have turned the firewall off.
I have read here something about allowing the ports.....what's that, and will it help?

Did you forward ports 8000 & 8001 to the LAN IP address of your server?

can you log into your routers admin page? There you will find an option for port forwarding. Typically it is under an advanced option. There will be boxes to enter the port number, in this case use 8000 and another line use 8001. Then it will have a box to enter the IP address where you wnat it forwarded to. For example I have ports 8000 & 8001 forwarded to my LAN IP address of my shoutcast server, 192.168.0.3

You seem to be not grasping the concept. That is the address of your router and is an interanl LAN IP address. It is not the public address of your shoutcast server.

Did you log into the router and forward the ports?

Your original link does not work still, any chance you might have a dynamic IP address (one that changes frequently)?

No, but I just realised something - the server is trying to connect to a different IP than the one in my link! What's going on there?

this shows my Ip to be 62.254.0.34
but my router says it is 192.168.0.1

Hmm.... mysterious, eh?

not at all. Your WAN IP addres is 62.254.0.34 your router is at 192.168.0.1 your shoutcast server is on another LAN IP address. The log shows you still have not successfully forwarded or opened the proper ports.

Until you get that fixed, you won't have any success broadcasting.

I know I added ports
8000-8001
8000-8000 and
8001-8001 to be safe!

I even had to restart the routers.

ok, guess I'm going to uninstall the whole thing. It can't be that good if you have to alter a billion settings for the thing to work, anyway.
