Error opening files - what does "-Embedding" mean?

When i try to open any type of audio file by double clicking in Windows Explorer, Winamp opens and says "-Embedding" in the playlist section. When i look at file info it says "C:\WINDOWS\system32\-Embedding" at the top. Why can't i open files? It was working ok before, but i don't know what has changed to make this happen. Please help!!!
Thanks.

Weird!

Sorry, I've never heard of that one before.

Sounds like file associations have got messed up,
or some input plugins have gone astray?

Try reassociating extensions:
Winamp -> Prefs (Ctrl+P) -> Filetypes:
select: MP3, M3U, PLS, WAV, etc from extension list.

If all else fails, reinstall Winamp

And, if that fails:
Basic Uninstall -> Reinstall procedure

If the problem persists, please include some sys specs (including Windows OS) and a list of any other multimedia players installed (eg. one of these might be responsible for messing up associations?)
Also, tell us what format the music files are that you're trying to play.
(eg. MP3, WAV, MID, MOD, WMA, etc)

Also, run an up-to-date virus scanner, just to be sure.

btw, can you open/play the files if you use Winamp's "Add -> File" button?

Weird, i managed to get it working again by unchecking the 'Use DDE' box in Windows Explorer Tools/Folder Options/File Types and Advanced under mp3. I'm positive that was the only thing i changed. Unless i inadvertently did something else, but it all works fine now and that's the main thing. Thanks for your suggestions though.
Jason.

Like I said, your associations were messed up.
When MP3 is propely associated with Winamp (in WA -> Prefs -> Filetypes), the DDE box in Folder Options should NOT be checked. By default, Winamp doesn't use DDE commands, at least not without a DDE plugin
