Is iPhone supported?

I have the latest Winamp and it doesn't recognize my iPhone 5. Is iPhone recognition/access supported on non-jailbroken phones?

Send it to Apple and ask them to release an SDK so 3rd-party developers can add official support.

We tried to add support for the newer Touch models a couple of years ago (via reverse engineering, which is the only way)
but Apple released new firmware a few days later which broke it again.
This happened twice (days/weeks of work, all for nothing), so we just gave up.

We now concentrate more on Android instead...

That is unfortunate, but I can't blame you and it makes sense. Apple is generally awful, and this just fuels that claim.

I usually wow people with my incredible Winamp setup, but I lose them immediately when I tell them I have to carry an iPod Classic in addition to my iPhone (which I wish wasn't the best choice on the market, when jailbroke, for a smartphone).

Winamp's ability to keep track info in a database (and not requiring Id3 tag editing, so that you can, for example, fix a track title but not modify the source mp3) is the #1 reason I use Winamp.

If Apple would allow us to provide support, then we would. But they don't.
MediaMonkey might be able to get away with it, but we can't.
Apple have only got themselves to blame for the rise of Android.
So that would be my advice... Go Android!

b/c MM is one I know can actually do it. and b/c you can take their plugin that does it, and use it with winamp, or so I've heard.

I don't think that's true of ONLY winamp. why though would you not want the id3 info to be correct?

couldn't agree more.

but Egg, are you guys implementing the suggestions I've made? the experience needs to become bulletproof, and it won't be without those suggestions, (to both the WfA app and the desktop client)

There are a number of reasons why you should preserve an MP3's id3 tag. One example:

On an iPod, you can't view albums by artist - > year. You can only see them alphabetically. I can use Winamp's (absolutely amazing) ability to not modify the actual file and set the library tag ("fake tag" only used in Winamp's db) to change an album's title to include a year. Such as setting "Sing the Sorrow" to "2003 Sing the Sorrow". Of course, if Apple didn't suck so much and let you control their iPod's interface AT ALL, this wouldn't be necessary.

not really, I don't use winamp with istuff. but all you have to do is DL that plugin, put it (and any related files it comes with) in winamp plugins (while winamp is closed), and see if it works when u start winamp next.

so u keep the id3 correct, and change the DB to fool istuff. I understand. however, I think other apps can do it too.

u prob also should disable or remove any existing istuff plugins before attempting to install the MM one.

I understand there isn't a SDK for the developers to integrate with when it comes to supporting iPhone but I don't see how this is any different than a physical CD I want to play in winamp.

Could the developers at winamp interface our iPhones and iPods with Bluetooth. This seems to be the way to go because you can have winamp send a signal via Bluetooth to the iPhone. It should be able to do all the normal thigns we want like see our playlists, skip to the next track, etc.

I understand that not everyone has Bluetooth built into their computers but you can buy a USB-Bluetooth device. Most modern technology is Bluetooth equipped.
