Format converter broken

Hey Guys!

I used winamp 5.666 a lot to convert flac files to MP3 (because my mp3 player doesn't play flac)

It worked like a charm!

Recently i updated to winamp 5.8 and when I try to convert a file now I get the error "cannot open encoder"

So I uninstalled 5.8 and installed 5.666 again, but know I get the same error with 5.6 :-\

Any Idea what's wrong here? Please let me know If I need to provide any more informations like log files or something

well this doesn't explains why format converter doesn't work anymore even though i switched back to 5.666

It's a weird issue ur having. U might need to uninstall everything, run crap cleaner, and install to a dir other than the default.

That all might fix it, but I would really like to figure out why it's failing for u now, bc it shouldn't be.

Is winamp able to play the FLAC files ?

yes. winamp plays the flac files without a problem.

and it seems like the format converter is not completely broken.

I can convert 1100kbps 44khz flac files without a problem

but I have some 3500~ KBPS 24bit 96khz flac files that I can play without a problem, but when I try to open them it says "cannot open encoder"
