playlist title bug related to directshow filter 0.98
[edit]
Forgot to mention the technical stuff: WA 5.2 Clean install WinXP Pro Danish SP2 P4 2666MHz, 512mb RAM Graphics card: SiS M650_651_650_740, 6.14.0010.2220 (eng) Sound card: Realtek AC97, 5.10.0000.5990 (eng) DX 9 (4.09.0000.0904) At least directshow decoder 0.98 is affected, maybe others. [/edit] I am not quite sure if this is a bug in the plug-in or a general bug in the playlist, but I'll post it here anyway. If I doubleclick on a file in the playlist the playlength of the file is displayed to the left of the file (which is fine), but when I afterwards click on another file it no longer displays the playlength. It seems that it looses the playlength whenever I change focus in the playlist (however only when using the mouse, not when using keyboard). Also it only loose the playlength if the file was decoded using the directshow filter plug-in, and winamp was unable to determine the bitrate of the file. Actually it might also happen if other plug-ins are unable to determine the bitrate, but I haven't encountered such cases. Actually I think it's because of my directshow decoder filter that winamp is unable to get the bitrate (I use FFDshow). The bug also happened in the previous beta, I think it started occuring after you posted something about fixing some kind of a title bug, but I'm not sure. |

"Sorry, online Services could not load. Please post an angry message in the Forums".
THIS IS AN ANGRY MESSAGE!!! >> I want the old browser back! It simply worked, and the new one does not! it shows a mostly black window and that's all! Where can I enter a search e.g. for jazz radio channels, as i could do it before 5.2? all the input fields are gone. I will definitively go back to version 5.13. And now don't tell me your update stuff yes bla bla it's always the same, really. Not only that I can't play back a lot of my ACM wave files (what I can somewhat "repair" by using the old in_wave plugin), NO also the online media is gone. very cool. thanks. ![]() Was this message angry enough? At least I am. |

And another (real) bug report:
in_wave (the new one of course) doesn't play normal (uncompressed PCM) wave files if they contain Meta information ("LIST information") at the beginning. If this information is at the end of the file (at it should be...) it's no problem, then it even shows that information in Winamps scolling bar. (fine!) Clean install. Here's a link to a file that won't play. It contains some LIST chunk at its beginning, with information that it was created by Goldwave. http://home.arcor.de/ggabi/pub/strek.wav Regards, kzuse PS: The old in_wave (which I continue using because of the RIFF-MP3 bug, and which was fully OK since i almost never played 32bit WAV's) did correctly play this file !!!! |

Its called a trade off. libsndfile supports many many many more variations of wave files. however, it has less tollerence for invalid or dodgy wave files.

Microsoft Plays For Sure Plug-in v0.3 [pmp_p4s.dll]
Winamp 5.2 - Clean Install
Windows XP Home - SP1 Pentium M @ 1.3Ghz - 1Gb RAM ATI Mobility Radeon 9200 - Driver 6.14.10.6422 SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio - Driver 5.12.1.3571 DirectX 9.0c Microsoft Plays For Sure Plug-in v0.3 [pmp_p4s.dll] -This problem is reproduceable with 100% success.- The Plays for Sure plugin does not recognize the Samsung YP-T8Z. This device is plays for sure certified and works with WMP 10 as a portable device properly. I cannot give instructions on how to reproduce this other than to tell you to get one and try it out. I am unaware if this is a problem with all Samsung players. I would guess that many people are going to have a problem with this feature as the protocol is identical regardless of the player. If any further information is required, please let me know. |

It seems that the Missing Files feature can't handle those runic characters that german/scandinavian bands have in their names/song names.
My entire Mötorhead and half the Nargaroth directory is marked as missing, although it still plays the file. Just shows it as missing. |

Using 5.2 (Feb 23 2006)
Concerning the text box below Preferences : Portables : Use this query to fine-tune what songs should be included in the Autofill Entering the following line rating == 0 and then initiating autofill causes winamp to use max cpu and freeze. Lines such as "rating == 1" ... "rating == 5" immediately bring up the confirmation dialog box. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Not sure if I understood you exactly, but rating=0 is not valid. Try "(rating isempty)" instead. [Edit --> starfoxmac] Thanks for the tip - I was going to ask that next. But I think the bug is that if I enter incorrect syntax, I have to end winamp with the task manager and try again. Last edited by starfoxmac; 24th February 2006 at 23:57. |

Winamp 5.2 - clean install (with NO 3rd-party plugins)
Windows xp pro sp2 amd 3800+ dual core, asus a8n-sli, 2 gigs ram nividia gforce 6600 81.98 audigy 2 zs DirectX 9.c my problem is with the following plugin: Nullsoft Vorbis Decoder v1.44 [in_vorbis.dll] when i am listening to a stream that uses oggvorbis the title of the metadata song is missing the artist, i only see album - tracknumber - song title all previous versions of winamp showed the artist of the song as well. i have comfirmed on another machine with 5.13 that it shows the artist - album - track - title in the playlist area. a friend of mine comfirmed that his new install of 5.2 doesnt show the artist metadata either but previous version does. the stream is being broadcasted with latest oddsock 3.16, icecast and winamp 5.13, the server also has mp3 being streamed as well and the metedata shows up correct with artist. i have narrowed it down to winamp 5.2 being the problem, and titles with oggvorbis being streamed, no artist name. i hope this gets fixed. |

Winamp - 5.2 clean install
Windows - XP Pro English SP2 + all updates ULi M1563M, Efficeon TM8600 1.0GHz, 256MByte ATI MOBILITY RADEON - driver 6.14.10.6422 Realtek AC97 Audio - driver 5.10.0.5900 DirectX 9.0c Current iPod support plugin (pmp_ipod.dll v0.3) doesn't detect iPod nano restored to factory-default settings by iPod updater. I don't think this is a big bug. This problem can be solved simply with initialization by ml_iPod or iTune. But someone may be in trouble. I thank you very much for gapless playback support. I'm really happy. ![]() |

No DSP with in_wave.dll in 32bit mode
Well, I guess the subject says it all;
Never tried it in the previous v of Winamp, but just found that if the in_wave plugin is set to 32bit mode (I run a studio and often play 24bit wave files) then DSP?Effect plugins and built-in EQ are bypassed. Sounds like this new in_wave plugin is a doozie... Keep rockin it Nullsoft! Dax. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Nope, it was the same with the old in_wave, and all other plugins actually. |

Winamp 5.2 - clean install
Windows XP SP2 Abit NF7-S Motherboard, Athlon XP 2500+ Barton, 1 gig DDR 333 ram. Radeon 9700, 6.14.0010.6587 Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum eX, 5.12.0001.0441 DirectX 9.0c iPod Plug-in v0.3 [pmp_ipod.dll] Problem: Whenever stopping the iPod to disconnect it, Winamp crashes. This crash is 100% repeatable on my system. I get this error when debugging: Unhandled exception at 0x01ff214d in winamp.exe: 0xC000001D: Illegal Instruction. This /only/ started happening once I started using ephpod (http://www.ephpod.com/) to manage my iPod. In addition, Winamp is unable to recognize my iPod if I use ephpod. Winamp worked great when I was using only iTunes to manage my iPod. If necessary, I can attach the windows error report that is generated. Thanks! |

iPod Plug-in v0.3 [pmp_ipod.dll]
![]() ![]() First connected iPod, launched Winamp: Winamp crashes on load. Winamp starts successfully with no iPod connected. Connecting iPod while Winamp is loaded will crash Winamp. Reformatted iPod with newest iPod Updater. Now Winamp launches without crashing, even with iPod connected, but it doesn't detect the iPod any more. ![]() |

ipod sync and duplicates
Upgrade install of 5.2 from 5.13 (5.13 did NOT have ml_ipod installed.)
XP sp 2, all updates, plugged in iPod (3G, 40gig FW) and launched Winamp. It saw my iPod perfectly, and all playlists. When I clicked sync (it was already up to date and should have had nothing to do) it proceeded to queue up dozens of songs that already existed on the iPod. I paused the sync, found the dupes that had already been copied and removed them from the iPod, then removed all songs from the queue list. What does pmp_ipod.dll do to determine if the song already exists on the iPod? If it is based only on filename, then duplicates will occur since iTunes renames the files when copying them to the iPod. pmp_ipod.dll should compare ID tags (artist, album, title, etc.) to check for duplicates, and it appears to not recognize at least some already existing songs. Cheers, Toby |

virtual memory leak in [in_mp3]
Winamp 5.2 - update from 5.12 installation (with in_mpc 3rd-party plugin)
1 GB memory Windows xp pro sp2 DirectX 9.c Then I start playing new mp3/aac song, WinAmp increases his virtual memory size on 2-9 Mb (like song size). With other media formats playback all ok (wma/ogg/mpc). I suppose bug in new gapless playback feature. On screenshot you can see WinAmp memory size after 50 tracks have been played. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Hmm.. I can't reproduce this. Anyone else? |

Clean install of Winamp 5.2, DirectX 9.0c December 2005, Windows 98 SE, IE6 SP1, WMP9, MDAC 2.8, .NET 1.1, .NET 2.0.
Celeron 800, 192 MB RAM, 120 GB + 20 GB hard drives, DVD ROM drive, CD-RW drive, Onboard Soundmax Integrated Digital Audio, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 PCI, Gigabyte GA-6WMMC7 motherboard. Suspect plugin: in_mp3 Problem: Gapless playback not gapless with all MP3s Detail: This problem only occurs with MP3s that have the "Original" flag. MP3s without any flags on them play gapless absolutely fine. However, recent rips have been done with EAC 0.95.1, and they always put an "Original" flag on each MP3 file. I haven't tried it with the other flags, but I'd assume they give the same problem. |

Same specs as before
Another bug, WMA Encoder 1.1 (enc_wma.dll), unable to save encode settings. Winamp simply gives an "illegal operation" box (of which I will copy and paste the contents of later) and crashes/closes to desktop. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Hmm, can't reproduce this. There's no crash here. [edit]Perhaps it's a 98 issue? I don't have XP, so can't confirm.[/edit] Last edited by Inventive Soft; 27th February 2006 at 14:23. |

About the enc_wma.dll bug, it only happens when "Windows Media 9" is selected. The other 2 options, "Windows Media 9 Professional" and "Windows Media 9 Voice" all save correctly.

No CTRL+V in Media Library
In Winamp 5.2, CTRL+V (Stop after this song) does not work.
Notes: - standard keys (Z, X, C, V, B) work - CTRL+V works in the Main Window and in the Playlist Editor Clean install. 3rd party plugins installed (only INPUT plugins). I think this bug is not related to my system configuration. OS: Windows 2000 SP4 [Edit --> DJ Egg] I can't reproduce this. Ctrl+V works fine here. Anyone else? |

Related to the enc_wma.dll bug I reported earlier, the output is as follows:
WINAMP caused an invalid page fault in module ENC_WMA.DLL at 017f:03672fd0. Registers: EAX=00000000 CS=017f EIP=03672fd0 EFLGS=00010246 EBX=00000000 SS=0187 ESP=0073db90 EBP=0073eb58 ECX=00975594 DS=0187 ESI=01097430 FS=0d47 EDX=00000002 ES=0187 EDI=00000528 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: 8b 08 68 74 5a 67 03 50 ff 51 24 8b 44 24 0c 8b Stack dump: 00000528 01097430 00000000 00000000 00975570 00975360 00975578 0004169f 00000000 1c9d0000 00060367 00000053 bff741f7 0442e8e1 167f176f 00008bfc A new bug to report (another one!): This is with in_cdda.dll. Same specs in previous posts applies. When I play an audio CD with the "Sonic extraction" option enabled, it crashes on exit. Doesn't happen with it disabled, this was how I narrowed it down. It doesn't sort-of hang or anything, just gives an "illegal operation" notice, then bombs back to desktop. The output from the crash is this: WINAMP caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at 0000:02093a20. Registers: EAX=00000001 CS=017f EIP=02093a20 EFLGS=00010202 EBX=00000000 SS=0187 ESP=007388fc EBP=0073895c ECX=7c34218f DS=0187 ESI=01af10d0 FS=3547 EDX=0051e3a0 ES=0187 EDI=0109c010 GS=0000 Bytes at CS:EIP: Stack dump: 01abd418 0051e3a0 00000000 00000000 0073894c 01abeb08 00000000 01abed5a 01af10d0 01abe525 01abe5e8 01ab0000 00000000 00000000 00000000 01ab0000 [Edit --> DJ Egg] The Sonic Engine crash on exit is Win9x-specific and known. If focus is on "Playlist Editor" or "Winamp" windows, CTRL+V works perfectly. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Actually, none of the kybd shortcuts via "ml > main menu > playback" are working for me, heh. Same in 5.13, 5.09, 5.08 too, so looks like it's always been like that, and I'm not entirely sure if it's easily fixable, because ml is just a plugin (modeless dialog box) and not part of the winamp core. |

Now it is clear that this is not a missing shortcut, but something not implemented at all in ML. And it also not very important ;-) Thanks for your answer. |

memory leaks in [in_mp3]
Hello.
I have tested it on another machine WinXP SP2 with clean winamp 5.2 installation and this bug reproduces. Here http://ccfit.nsu*****~bur/aac/bug.zip you can find AAC file wich causes memory leaks. Unzip it to temporary folder, run make100copies.bat (it is located in this archive) to make 100 copies and add them all to playlist. Enjoy how WinAmp eats your PCs memory ![]() Thanks. |

Streaming with wav files and 5.2+
I stream playing wav files. In earlier than 5.2, naming the wav file title-artist.wav worked fine for sending artist and title to WMP.
Using Winamp 5.2+ it now displays the complete path and extension of the files. Copying over with the old in_wave.dll fixes the problem. -Bob |

Winamp 5.21 - Minor Bug in Media Library
It seems that the last used folder in the dialog boxes for 'Export playlist' and 'Import playlist form file' override the last used folder for the 'Add media to library' dialog box.
I would like it if these were kept seperate as my playlists are in a different folder to where my music is. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Feature requests should be posted in the Wishlist forum. |

in_wave.dll -> clicks with 32bit output
32bit output (in_wave.dll) gives clicks with certain wave-files: http://www.outburst-audio.com/misc/winamp.wav
with 16bit output no click is produced. |

When streaming Ogg Vorbis files, under 'User Agent' in Icecast, it shows: WinampOGG/5.12(MPEG stream compatible)
shouldn't this read: WinampOGG/5.21(MPEG stream compatible) |

shoutcast trouble when listening behind NAT...
Hellow there!
After winamp 5.06 (or later, i see it in winamp 5.13) - it's now impossible to listen shoutcast's stations if you are sitting behind a NAT ;( When I using winamp 5.06 to listen shoutcast's stream from the internet - all right, but where I using latest winamp (now 5.21) - it isn't possible to listen the sames broadcasts... (in playlist printed: [ICY 200 OK] http://server-name) Otherway: I can listen broadcast in both winamp 5.06 and 5.21 when shoutcasting server isn't behind NAT. |

Re: ipod sync and duplicates

In my case it seems to be albums of german bands, containing songs with umlauts. So I am pretty sure this bug is related to unicode handling somehow (wrong assumptions when doing string comparisons maybe?). What is strange is that all songs in these albums get duplicated, even if only a few of the songs have umlauts in their titles. Needless to say that this bug is extremely annoying. A quick fix would be great. |
