Just swapo the %artist% and %title% tags in the 'extra' settings. You can put whatever you want in there using ATF.

ie, you could put in:

MSN Artist: I am listening to %title% by %artist%
MSN TItle: I rated this song with %rating% stars and have played it %playcount% times

and so on...

Hello, excellent plugin to use with MSN 7, thanks for that
Just one question though: When you stop playing a song, the last track played stays as the personal message.
Is it possible to make it behave just like with Windows Media Player, so the personal message returns to it's original value?

Can it be set so that when I pause the song is says player paused or something like that?

Also if you swap the %artist% and %title% and so on, well the MSN search when you click on to the song won't work.

Yeah thats possible, I will add it in RC3. That will have to be done tomorrow.

A final note before I go to bed. If you are linking to this plugin, please link to the forum and warn people that it is *beta* software and there is going to be bugs, and there will be several versions to come to try fix these bugs. Also, Toaster will eventually be published when its reached release status to its place on the plugin site:

Ive been busy working on a few other things. Theres a prolbem with RC3 that meta data such as rating and playcount etc isn't possible in the MSN song tags which Ive fixed. Apart from that it is mostly fixing the 'animate out on change' and 'dynamic width' stuff for 0.7. Plus a couple little fixes.

I will also put some limited preset functionality into 0.7, however theres quite a lot I could do in this area so 0.7 will just have the basic stuff for now. I'll see if I can do some on it tonight.

RC3

This release mostly fixes a couple issues with msn title updates.

+clears the msn titles on pause or stop
+iterates all instances of msn, just like the WMP plugin
+fixes issue of media library meta tags in msn titles
+some animate in/out logic fixes - though still needs more work
+general internal fixes

Dynamic width combined with animate out on change can be troublesome. And different animate effects other than fade are very likely to cause problems at the moment, its still being worked on.

This release does not include the preset options, although I hope to include these in the 0.7 release eventually.

To make it even more specific the status of the player should appear like the rest of the information using Formatting tab. Something like %wastatus%, so that we can put winamp status anywhere in the "toast". Possible status would be: Playing, Paused, Stopped, Next (when next track function was used) and Previous (when previous track function was used). I think that the info should give a better look if it apeared in the first line of text but if you use the Formatting option it was possible to put it anywhere in the "toast". Maybe in the next RC? But take your time!

[EDIT]And since it supports volume change notifications it would be nice if the volume level would also be available as info like: %wavollevel% = volume xxx%![EDIT/]

I absolutely love Toaster and well done for all the work that's gone into it, it's my favourite plugin, but could I make a request for future versions of this software? I'd like to be able to have the toast appear a second time before the end of the song, like on music channels. Would be a welcome addition.

Regards,
halfaheart.

@kado: The volume level is already available, as %vol%.
The status is kind of available as %status%, although it indicates the reason for the toast appearing rather than the players status (ie rating changed, hotkey etc).

So you could do for example:
$if(%cmp(:status=Volume Changed)%, New volume = %vol%%%,)

Download Toaster 0.6 and read the gen_toaster.htm for the specifics of whats possible with the ATF processing.

However with regards to having this in the MSN title information when paused or stopped, its a bit difficult as the information either has to be cleared or set, and most people would probably prefer it be cleared. Having the ability to update with the new status instead of clearing would require yet another option.... Also, MSN messenger doesnt support any other status other than 'Listening To' so it doesnt really make sense to have "listening to: some song - paused".

@halfaheart: The ability to popup at % through the song, or x seconds before the end etc has been meaning to go in for a while now. Its a bit tricky as winamp doesnt always report the accurate length of a song.

If youre good with scripting though, you can use my ActiveWinamp plugin to show the notification at the time you like. Itd be something like (rough pseudo code):

Sub Application_OnChangedTrack
settimeout current song length / x% etc
End Sub
On timeout
shownotification
end sub

The status of the player should not appear on msn title information, only the necessary info (artist, title and album).
Anyway is there a way to monitor the player's current status?

foobar plugin

I guess its kind rude to post it here, but the hydrogen forums dont let you post attachments. Just ignore this if you dont use foobar2000.

Note that its been done in about 10mins after having never written a foobar plugin before, so its just some quick job. I gotta say, the API $#&%s all over the winamp one :P

If you get some error about msvcr71.dll, either get that file, or recompile the component to your liking - the source is included.

Is there any way to not show the stream url in MSN Messenger 7?
Also, can anything be changed so that the title still shows when Winamp is paused?
Awsome update by the way. Excellent work.

The current "Artist" tag looks something like:

$if(%ishttp%,%filename%,%artist%[ %ratingstar%])

Just change it to:

$if(%ishttp%,Internet Radio,%artist%[ %ratingstar%])

Or put whatever you want in place of %filename% (which is the url if it is a http stream).

There is currently no way of still showing the song while it is paused. I may add this as an option, as it seems to be a requested feature.

RC4

Ok, an actual "release candidate" this time. It should be the final one before the final release.

Some improvements:

+Preset support (load/export/import/delete)
+Dynamic height and alignment
+MSN titles update properly with toasts disabled
+Option to not clear MSN title on pause
+Reorganisation of the configuration screen
+Alpha option for covers
+Centered position instead of "automatic"
+%wastatus% tag with playing,stopped,paused

Things should work ok. There may still be some bugs with animate-in/out with dynamic widths etc. I'll be sure to give it some testing and tuning over the next couple days.

I will need some default presets to ship with it too, plus the write up of the readme docs...

If you havent used Toaster 0.6, be sure to get that first, as it contains some documentation and images for the covers etc which arent in this .zip.

Bug?

I'm still having the problem that first showed up in 0.6 with folder.jpg.

To properly repro it, open up the Playlist Editor and add a song from a folder with a folder.jpg in it. Then add a few more songs (from a different folder) also each with a folder.jpg. Finally, hit play. You'll see the wrong album cover displayed, as it'll just show whatever the last one from the song you just loaded.

Another example; save that playlist you just created and close Winamp. Then load up Winamp, load up that playlist and hit play. Now no folder.jpg will load, you'll see the generic image; it seems to only load during an actual file->open operation?

This wasn't a problem in 0.5 and just showed up in 0.6 (and continues in 0.7).. am I the only one seeing this?

I cannot repro that. Have you got another folder.jpg viewer type plugin installed which may be locking the image or doing something strange? What does your folderimg list look like? It should be:

%dir%\\folder.jpg;%dir%\\..\\folder.jpg

That was it exactly, it was simply "folder.jpg" before.

Thanks much shaneh, this is the most useful winamp plugin ever!

RC5

I forgot to add in the new hot keys, so Ive done another RC, as these should be tested:

+Add hot keys:
Show next song (in playlist)
Show previous song (in playlist)
Jump to shown song and play

Theyre a bit sketchy if you use them while moving items about in the playlist, but otherwise they should be ok.

Keep pressing the next and previous hot keys to iterate through the playlist items.

hey, coolest plugin ever - great work.

is it possible to seperate font/colour/opacity options for each line of text? another vital addition would be a position option with the following settings: ondesktop, onbottom, normal and ontop.

again, great plugin - hoping to see more updates!

It's kinda nice that the RC2 aligned the toast size to the amount of output data but it's aligned to the *right* border of the space I set (absolute position), how could I change that to the left border?

It should be the "Align Left" radio option under the "dynamic width" check option.

thanks a lot shaneh.. i knew it was something simple like that.

another question, and i know i might come over as pretty stupid to all you developers, and i was reluctant to post this, but can someone point me out to a guide about these "%title%" "%album%" stuff (i dont even know what those are called, so i couldn't search the forums) so i can format the text on the toaster?

i would be most gratefull...

Download Toaster 0.6:

And read the gen_toaster.htm that is installed. Also, go into the winamp preferences and under title formatting press "help".

Hi, toaster seems to have stopped displaying text along with the album cover. There is just a grey blank space to the right of the cover. Also had this problem in 0.6
Was working for a while, and then one day just didnt display text anymore...
Any ideas?
