DrO,

Was testing back 6-8 months ago I figure I poke back in here.

Installed latest SHOUTcast Server Version 0.2.0.0 0.0.19.0/posix(linux x86)
CentOS 5.4

Have it working with latest Sc_Trans from (12-14-2010)
3 Streams up and running same port.

Problem I am having is I can not kick ban or ban subnet (tested on myself and other ips). After adding I confirmed they are showing up on the ban page.

Other then that up and running for 8 Days no problem.

Features I am still waiting for.

Have 2nd ip (not main ip) that I am not using port 80 on. Would like to use it but get error can't see yp server (or something to that nature). I think this is 1 of the known issues.

Keep up the good work I know staff is running thin for this project.

Thanks
Enrique

someone else reported that but i've not been able to reproduce the issue as it does take a while for the client to get kicked depending on what is being streamed. i've pm'd you a link to a test version to try out to see if that makes any difference or not.

at some point i'll try to look into resolving that again but i've a feeling it's a bit between the DNAS and the YP handling.

is that with the test version i sent you or build 19? though i've a feeling there's still some issues from converting most options to per-stream versions with relaying not tested as much as other aspects (especially when relaying won't work with a YP2 registration).

used test version --sc_serv2 Ultravox/2.1 SHOUTcast 0.2.0.0 0.0.21.0

Was not aware relay not yet working with YP2. Whenever you get to that point I will be happy to help out.

rightio, will track down the issue and send you a test build to confirm the fix.

with the relaying, it's point #2 in the known issues:
Quote:
Listing a relayed stream when using the YP2 mode is known to not work and will return a 474 error code from the attempt to connect to the YP. Setting the server as non-public or using the v2 DNAS in legacy mode (yp2=0) will allow the stream to be listed but means you lose all of the YP2 features. This is being worked on.
so as long as its non-public then relaying will work (ignoring the segfault issue as that's a new issue from the recent build changes) but then again that sort of defeats some aspects of using the v2 DNAS

i've just tried it with Windows versions of build 14 and the development version with the source DSP (v2.1.3 and the development version) and sc_trans build 39, build 40 (not my development version as that's broken at the moment) and all are providing the correct metadata so i'm not sure what's going on to cause the issue you're seeing.

[edit]
i may have found something related (as my dev version has been acting screwy) and i've now got that working ok and can see all of the tag data from the file as the older sc_trans versions were doing so it might be related but not sure. will sort out a test build for you once i've had some sleep

Hi Daz,

thanks for checking. Im sorry, maybe i forgot to mention, the error occured while a DJ was broadcasting with SAM (SAM --> sc_trans --> Shoutcast).

But still curious as it seems like not all tags containing specialchars causing this error.

EDIT: found the lines on the sc_trans logfile and sent it to you by PM

i would have said it looks like you've not stopped the existing sc_serv2 instance as that's the normal reason for that error to appear. other than that, nothing has been changed in the port handling since build 7 so it shouldn't be doing that. only thing i can otherwise think off is to comment out the srcip and destip lines.

right, you need to give me exact details of how you are running sc_serv2 and sc_trans, if anything is feeding sc_trans, etc and the versions of things that are being used and how to exactly reproduce what you're seeing as i'm not able to reproduce any crashes, etc.

Thanks DrO this works with me. Now another doubt.

In my sc_serv sc_trans config files and I set 32kbits, 64kbits and 128kbits with maxuser=100. When access index.html?sid=1 I see the limit to 100 listeners, but on others sid=2 and sid=3 also totaling 300 listeners.

Can I determine how many listeners can access each maxuser configured with streamid bitrate?

Oh, sorry for my previous message. I take the syntax on the ShoutCast Config Builder.

lyov: just got the files, will see what's going on, thanks.

smuxbr: working from what you've striked out, 'maxuser' is applied on the server level so it will show against different streams on the admin pages but will be applied overall. to do specific stream limits then you can use 'streammaxuser' which will be used if it's upto the value of 'maxuser' but will never go above it.

so you could have 3 streams, maxuser=100, stream #1 has a per-stream limit of 50 and the rest are left to follow the maxuser value. so with that, stream #1 can have upto 50 connections at most, but it can be less since streams #2 and #3 could already have connections (e.g. 40 each) - which would leave stream #1 with only 10 available slots.

hope that makes some sort of sense. basically the maxuser values are the upper most number of connections allowed either for the server overall or on a per-stream basis upto the server limit.

same problem with utf-8 in this build 19, when I play any music like "fábio júnior - só você" (sorry but my language is Portuguese).

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::runtime_error'
what(): XML parser error: not well-formed (invalid token) at line 3
<unfinished ...>
+++ killed by SIGABRT

This not occurs in build 7.

smuxbr: build 7 can't really be equated to the current build as the code used now wasn't in there / active in build 7. i've pm'd you a link to a newer version which may help things (or at least give me a better idea if things are still broken with the newer code despite other changes i've made).

I don't want install the SHOUTcast DNAS 2 beta until be ready or when one stable version comes out. My station radio can't be into many issues at this time, like to wait.
Just for test I install WAMP server into windows and check how work.

In my case, my radio doesn't run from my computer.

DrO: How I said in PM my problem with the 0.21 persists, but my friend found something interesting in log files:

but didn't kill the process, the sc_serv build 0.7 continues to work around a bug in the xml.

When we use the 0.19 or 0.21 the bug occurs in the same way, but it kills the process. This is very strange.

not that i know off as i don't even know if you ever tried the test build of the DNAS i sent (which i've probably removed now as it's long out of date) which improved handling with a direct connection such as with the DSP. however if the source being used isn't in a v2 mode then utf8 handling is never going to work nicely.

as such i've more important backend things to be working on at the moment so looking in utf8 issues which are most likely just in sc_trans's handling of legacy sources if that's what you're using (i did get the configs you uploaded but haven't had the time to look at them).

Hello!

Is there an alternative to the old 7.html page? I've searched in the docs and I could not found anything about it.

Thanks in advance.

index.html and a lot of "scraping"

Is it just me or are shoutcast users getting dumber?

BornKillaz: with the dev build you're trying you can use stats?sid=# which provides the same xml response as the private admin.cgi?sid=#&mode=viewxml&page=1. that is the nearest to a 7.html replacement that is going to be in the v2 DNAS.

details of what is returned can be found at http://wiki.winamp.com/wiki/SHOUTcas...Server_Summary and http://wiki.winamp.com/wiki/SHOUTcas...lent_of_7.html (which is a bit ahead of the game on mentioning the /stats action but i'd expected to have had a newer DNAS build released with it by now).

I have a number of DJs that use OS X with Nicecast and it does not send the full ICY-Headers, the same with the Shoutcast DSP plugin if you do not fill out every field.

In the previous version of the DNAS these fields were not required, but now they are? Is there anyway to disable that requirement or is it planned in the future to not make those headers required? I would like to move to my own hosting platform using the new DNAS but this issue prevents me from doing so.

Nou: the v2 DNAS has been tested against what was the current version of Nicecast about 2 months ago and from my testing and what i was hearing back the current v2 DNAS release worked with Nicecast source connections.

though really Nicecast should be following the SHOUTcast protocol specs rather than messing up the DNAS to support something which doesn't do things properly.

what are you trying to say about the SHOUTcast DSP as the current v2 DSP (if you're using the v1 DSP then you really need to upgrade as that thing is full of so many holes) does provide all of the supported icy-header parts required as per the v1 and v2 modes as needed or am i missing something in your post?

Currently running Shoutcast DNAS version 0.2.0.0 b 0.0.19.0 and when people use the older v1 protocol from Winamp or SAM Broadcaster with UTF-8 Characters, the server does not like this. This is a response at the server:

2011-04-28 12:59:36 I msg:[SHOUTcast] DNAS/posix(bsd) v 0.2.0.0 b 0.0.19.0 (Feb 25 2011) starting up...
2011-04-28 13:17:21 I msg:[ADMINCGI] Title update [Sigur Rós - Viðrar Vel Til Loftárása]
2011-04-28 13:17:21 E msg:Failure converting filename to metadata Bad UTF-8 code (73) at position 8
2011-04-28 13:17:21 E msg:Failure converting filename to metadata Bad UTF-8 code (73) at position 8

Unfortunately, when this happens, it also messes up with the XML viewer - if you go to http://server-ip:8000/admin.cgi?sid=1&mode=viewxml you get the response as follows:

XML Parsing Error: not well-formed
Location: http://server-ip:8000/admin.cgi?sid=1&mode=viewxml
Line Number 2, Column 1530:

If you look at the raw XML, you can see the following which corresponds to Column 1530:

<SONGTITLE>Sigur R?s - Vi?rar Vel Til Loft?r?sa</SONGTITLE>

The PHP also has problems parsing the XML, and it breaks the web page which is pulling the data from XML.

Are there plans to make v2 server be able to cope with v1 UTF-8 Characters?

P.S. There is no problem with v2 clients - e.g. the Winamp Shoutcast DSP.

KeyszerS: i've done some work towards improving v1 (legacy) song title handling though it is never going to be brilliant as some legacy sources do things which were never really intended by the sent but often it was ok though the v2 DNAS handles things differently leading to what you're seeing (as inserting non-compliant data into the utf8 encoded xml response doesn't work too well as you're seeing).

i'll send you a test build (for the BSD build) to see if what is planned for the next drop will resolve the issue you're seeing.

lyov: i have sent you a number of links to test versions and you've never replied / acknowledged them so i'm not really keen on doing it again for you based on the previous lack of response...

mattcamp: not at the moment though i think i know why they're not allowing to be listed but it's still something that needs to be properly checked through before anything gets changed (and there's higher priority things like getting the authhash system working again than that at the moment).

they were sent as private messages via this forum and i've got a record of a few sent with no response back unless something has gone screwy with the forum itself (though doesn't make sense if i've a record of them being sent).

Hello DrO,
Thanks for test build, after stream from dsp 2,2 plugin to sc_serv works fine with utf-8 metadata, but when I try to stream from dsp to sc_tras to sc_serv sc _serv give utf -8 sml parser error and go down.

And one Why when I want to stream from dsp 2.2 with v2 mode to sc_tras it give error that try to use v1 mode, but when I stream to sc_trans it work fine?

is that with the Source DSP in v2 or v1 mode to sc_trans?
and is sc_trans in v1 or v2 mode to sc_serv?

[edit]
just seen your additional post after making my reply so i guess you're mixing up the versions the tools are running in.

the v2.2.0 DSP tries to guess if you're connecting to a server in the wrong mode and so will show that error i.e. trying to connect to the v1 DJ port when you should be using the v2 DJ port for sc_trans for example.
